The IFS Multi Tradewind Sail (also nicknamed the Batman Sail by the online community) is an evolution of the traditional twin-headsail system, developed to deliver more power and boat speed with furling simplicity, significantly improved efficiency and greater control in long-distance downwind sailing.

Building onthe established ‘Tradewind sail’ concept, this solution integrates two structured luff, IFS gennakers using our exclusive continuous UHMWPE fiber exclusive technology on a single furling unit, eliminating the need for heavy, stiff and expensive anti-torsion cables.
While other sailmakers have taken different approaches, the long, consistent performance of our IFS cableless continuous-fiber technology stands out: seven years of reliable furling, designed and refined by OneSails.
The result is a lighter, more powerful configuration with a significantly larger sail area and improved aerodynamics compared to conventional twin genoas or spinnakers.

Each section of the sail can be deployed independently or together, adapting seamlessly to all downwind angles. In twin configuration, , the sails open symmetrically to create a stable, efficient “twin-genoa-like” setup for deep downwind sailing between 165° and 180° TWA. Unlike traditional twin genoas, however, these sails can be easily furled, dropped, and stowed in a compact, spinnaker-style bag. The sail also offers key advantages over traditional spinnakers. Its total surface area can be up to 35% larger than that of a symmetric spinnaker, and since this additional area is concentrated in the lower part of the sail, the boat becomes less prone to rolling and nose-diving. As a result, it delivers greater thrust, improved stability, and reduced overall load on the upper section of the mast.

Safety when running is another major benefit. Easing the clew sheets increases twist along the upper luff sections, providing an effective and simple depowering option. Giving the opportunity to furl it even in windy conditions, makes it significantly safer than using a spinnaker.
In single-sail configuration, both luffs can be set on the same side by connecting the two clews to a single sheet. This transforms the system into a reaching gennaker for angles between 60° and 80° TWA (depending on conditions, boat characteristics, and sheeting geometry), maintaining consistent power and clean airflow.

The system uses standard furling gear and adjustable clew connections, ensuring fast, intuitive operation. By reducing the need for complex sail changes, it becomes a highly practical solution for ocean crossings and long-distance cruising, where reliability and simplicity matter most.

Designed for both monohulls and multihulls, the Multi Tradewind Sail is built with advanced materials and features a structured luff using OneSails’ exclusive Integrated Furling Structure (IFS). It brings together simplicity, lightness, strength, versatility, and durability—combined with the refined craftsmanship that defines OneSails.

This innovative approach has earned the IFS Multi Tradewind Sail the Environmental DAME Award.
