Torqeedo, the market leader for electric mobility on the water, is partnering with Ocean Bottle to reduce plastic pollution because water is our most precious resource. Nothing but water. Nothing but nature.
"Respect for our natural and human environment is part of Torqeedo's core. If we fail to intervene, by 2050 the plastic in the ocean will weigh more than the fish," said Fabian Bez, CEO of Torqeedo GmbH. "This year, every visitor to the Torqeedo booth will receive a sustainably produced water bottle, an action that will prevent more than 1.2 million plastic bottles from entering our oceans."
"We would like to send a clear signal, so we deliberately chose a reduced and minimalist trade show appearance this year in Cannes. The theme of "Nothing but water. Nothing but nature." refers to the immersive experience of boating electric, made even more powerful by partnering with Ocean Bottle to reduce plastic pollution," Bez continued.
The Ocean Bottles can be refilled on-site with LiLLii-Water brand mineral water. One percent of the proceeds generated by the French water brand is donated to SOS Corail, which protects coral reefs, seagrass beds, and mangroves. Torqeedo headquarters is also an official refill station for Ocean Bottle owners. With the Ocean Bottle app, every time you refill your bottle you can prevent additional plastic pollution, joining a community of people doing good for the oceans every day.
During their stay, visitors can engage with Torqeedo experts about the full lineup of products for more sustainable boating and learn about THE ICON. THE ICON is the first of a new category of luxury electric foiling watercraft powered by Torqeedo and developed by BMW and TYDE.
With its innovative Deep Blue drive system and thanks to foiling technology, THE ICON enables almost silent, vibration-free cruising while flying over the waves. Twin Deep Blue 100i inboard electric drives convert the energy content of six (6) Deep Blue battery 40 (240 kWh total) into a range of over 50 nautical miles (100 kilometres) at a speed of 24 knots. The maximum speed is 30 knots (55 km/h). THE ICON is on display in the electric boating area, berth PAN060.
"The choices we make matter. At Cannes, we're encouraging our guests to reconnect with the environment and each other – when they visit our booth, when they refill their Ocean Bottle, and every time they boat electric," said Bez.
