Avikus continues its expansion into the Italian market in the field of autonomous navigation applied to recreational boating. The South Korean company, specialised in artificial intelligence-based navigation systems and a subsidiary of HD Hyundai, has announced a new partnership with SAIM Marine for the distribution of its technological solutions in Italy.
The agreement provides for SAIM Marine to leverage its commercial structure and distribution network to make Avikus systems available to Italian shipyards and yacht owners, including the latest evolution of the NEUBOAT platform, known as NEUBOAT Navi with Control. This move further consolidates Avikus’ presence in Europe by relying on a partner with a long-standing and widespread presence in the marine sector.
From a technological standpoint, Avikus has developed the NEUBOAT family as a foundation for the progressive automation of onboard manoeuvres. The first modules, NEUBOAT Dock and Dock II, are designed to reduce complexity and stress during docking operations, thanks to an overhead view, support from one or more cameras, obstacle detection and the generation of assisted docking paths. NEUBOAT Dock II also introduces enhanced situational awareness, a key factor for safety during low-speed manoeuvres.
The latest evolution, NEUBOAT Navi with Control, extends the concept from docking to navigation, providing real-time information on the position, distance and speed of fixed and moving objects ahead of the vessel. The system integrates an intelligent autopilot and an interface designed to make manoeuvres smoother and more intuitive, laying the groundwork for more advanced levels of assistance and automation.
According to statements from Avikus management, the goal is to respond to growing demand from European yacht owners for solutions capable of increasing onboard safety and comfort without altering the overall navigation experience. In this context, the collaboration with SAIM Marine is seen as strategic for access to the Italian market.
On the distribution side, SAIM Marine integrates Avikus systems into a portfolio already focused on high-technology components and solutions. Founded in 1951 and active in the marine sector with a dedicated business unit since 1993, SAIM Marine works closely with shipyards in project development and provides direct assistance along the main Mediterranean coasts and beyond, through a network of more than 100 authorised and continuously updated service centres.

The NEUBOAT platform has received recognition for innovation and design in both the technology and marine sectors, confirming an approach that combines software development, sensor technology and system integration.
