The 62-metre ketch Simena has departed the Ares Yachts shipyard in Antalya, Turkey, and is now en route to Monaco. She is the Turkish yard’s first sailing superyacht in the 60-metre-plus segment.

Arrival is scheduled for 22 March at the Explorer Dock of the Yacht Club de Monaco (YCM) Marina, as part of the Day of Exploration programme. The yacht will remain at the dock on 23 and 24 March, taking part in several events including a friendly regatta.

Simena has been nominated for the 6th YCM Explorer Awards by La Belle Classe Superyachts. The ceremony is set for 24 March. Established in 2019, the award recognises owners and projects that use yachts for exploration, scientific research, technological innovation and environmental responsibility. The yacht is also SEA Index-certified, the environmental standard developed by the YCM and certified by Lloyd’s Register.

The hull is built in steel-carbon composite construction to RINA Charter Class C requirements. Exterior lines are by Taka Yacht Design, interiors by Design Unlimited. Decks are laid in teak with varnished sipo mahogany detailing. Accommodation is for up to 12 guests and nine crew, with a forward main deck owner’s suite.

Propulsion is hybrid, with six operating modes. In electric mode, Simena reaches 8 knots with a range of 6,000 nautical miles at 7 knots. Under diesel power, top speed is 14 knots with a range of 4,000 nautical miles at 9 knots. During sea trials she achieved 14 knots under sail; the expected top sailing speed is 16 knots in 20 knots of wind at a 100-degree wind angle.

Simena is exclusively available for sale through Northrop and Johnson. The yacht will remain in the South of France through the end of March, with private viewings available on request.
