The thirteenth edition of the Foiling Week will take place in Malcesine, on the Veneto shore of Lake Garda, from 27 June to 5 July 2026. The event, recognised by World Sailing as a Special Event (a status shared with the America's Cup, SailGP and the Ocean Race), has been hosted by the Fraglia Vela Malcesine since the first edition in 2014.
The programme spans nine days with racing, demonstrations and trial sessions across the various foiling disciplines, from racing boats to electric boards. The 2026 edition expands its offering for the public with an experience programme that includes spectator boat outings to follow racing, guided tours of the boat park, introductory foiling sessions with instructors, rides on BirdyFish boards and time on the AC40 simulator used in America's Cup team preparation. The Fraglia Vela Malcesine will remain open to visitors throughout the event. Information and bookings are available at foilingweek.com.
On 1 and 2 July, Malcesine will host the Foiling Sport Congress 2026, a conference dedicated to the governance and development of foiling internationally (programme at foiling.org).
"Malcesine possesses extraordinary characteristics for hosting world-class sailing events: ideal natural conditions, established infrastructure and an internationally recognised sporting tradition," said Paolo Artelio, President of the Destination Verona & Garda Foundation. "As Destination Verona & Garda Foundation, we firmly believe in projects capable of attracting high-spending visitors and contributing to extending the tourist season, generating widespread benefits across the territory. The Foiling Week is not just a major sporting event, but an opportunity to strengthen Garda's positioning as a destination for active and outdoor tourism. Collaboration between institutions, operators and organisers will be crucial in turning this opportunity into an established and increasingly recognisable fixture on the international calendar."
The choice of Lake Garda as the event's permanent home is linked to the regular thermal winds that characterise the area's microclimate. Foiling is the technology that allows boats and boards to rise above the water surface on hydrofoils, sailing suspended above the water driven by wind or electric propulsion.
The Foiling Week takes place under the patronage of the Veneto Region as part of its Major Events programme, with the support of the Municipality of Malcesine and the Destination Verona & Garda Foundation.
