The Overmarine shipyard in Pisa launched the fifth unit of the Mangusta GranSport 54 on Wednesday 24 June. The model represents the brand’s fast-displacement line, designed to combine high performance and comfort over any distance, including ocean crossings.

With this fifth unit, three examples of which are already in operation in the Americas, the model confirms its presence in that market. “The need-for-speed philosophy continues to be a distinctive trait of the Americas, where performance, design and innovation are essential values”, said Stefano Arlunno, Mangusta President Americas.

The launch ceremony was attended by the owner and his family, the brokerage house MarineMax, the Nicolai Yacht Consultant team and the Overmarine team.

The Mangusta GranSport 54 was developed through the collaboration of Overmarine Group’s engineering office, engineer Ausonio and Alberto Mancini, and is built entirely in aluminium at the Pisa shipyard. The yacht combines a slender silhouette, powerful engines, sustained cruising speeds and ample onboard volumes.

The aerodynamic lines, sculpted stern, air intakes integrated into the hull sides and the raked windscreen connecting to the roll bar define the hull’s profile, oriented toward outdoor living and contact with the water.

The interiors are developed with visual and functional continuity with the exterior spaces. Large glazed surfaces allow natural light to enter.

The Mangusta GranSport 54 has a range of up to 4,200 nautical miles at 12 knots. It is equipped with four MTU Rolls-Royce engines of 2,600 HP each, coupled to four propellers, and reaches a top speed of 29 knots.

Overmarine Group, founded in 1985 by the Balducci family, is based in Tuscany and owns the Mangusta brand along with all of its production facilities. The group, whose roots date back to the 1950s, specialises in building fast composite yachts from 20 to 50 metres. Since 2015 it has expanded its range with displacement vessels in steel and aluminium and semi-displacement vessels in aluminium, between 42 and 54 metres in length, suited to ocean crossings.

To date, the group has delivered 25 metal yachts, alongside more than 320 composite units, of which more than 150 exceed 100 feet. The brand’s three lines, Mangusta Maxi Open REV, Mangusta Oceano and Mangusta GranSport, cover different uses of the vessel.

The group, founded under the direction of Giuseppe Balducci and joined from the 1990s by his children Maurizio and Katia, has now reached its third family generation. It has around 200 direct employees and more than 500 indirect ones, with a production area of over 210,000 square metres spread across Viareggio, Massa and Pisa, the latter recently expanded.

The production chain, entirely Italian, covers every stage from design to final fitting, with an after-sales service operating 24 hours a day. The group has direct offices in Miami and on the Côte d’Azur and relies on a dealer network in Turkey, Israel and the Balearic Islands. In 2025 it marked its fortieth anniversary.
