Exterior lines and interiors were designed by Hot Lab, while naval architecture was developed by the shipyard together with Names by Francesco Rogantin. The client was introduced by Assia and Salvatore Mele of Mele Yacht.

Columbus Yachts, a brand of the Palumbo family active in the superyacht sector since 2008, launched its first 54-metre superyacht, "Prima", in 2011. The shipyard also developed the Sport Hybrid 40m project, the first superyacht to receive RINA's "Hybrid Propulsion Y" notation. The brand offers four lines — Atlantique, Crossover, Sport and Classic — with vessels from 37 to 120 metres in aluminium or steel, and is part of the Palumbo Superyachts network alongside ISA Yachts, Mondomarine and EXTRA Yachts.
