The Bol d'Or Mirabaud 2022, only a month to go

11/05/2022 - 14:00 in Sport by Bol d'Or Mirabaud

The starting gun for the Bol d'Or Mirabaud will be fired on June 11 off the Société Nautique de Genève. For its 83rd edition, this great celebration of Lake Geneva will once again welcome more than 2,500 competitors, both amateurs and professionals, aboard various types of boats, multihulls, monohulls, foilers, and traditional sailboats.

Considered the world's most important regatta held on a lake, the Bol d'Or Mirabaud is above all a demanding challenge, contested over a theoretical racecourse of 123 kilometers between Geneva and Le Bouveret and back. But it is also a great popular festival for Lake Geneva lovers.

This year for the first time, the heart of the race will be the new club's Sports Pavilion. Organized as a dedicated event village, this space will host the highlights of the BOM: the opening ceremony, winner celebrations as well as the prize giving ceremony. There will be numerous activities (stands, bars, restaurants), as well as concerts, the TV studio and cartographic race tracking. In short, it's a program designed to satisfy sailors and their entourage before, during and after the regatta.

More than 500 boats are expected on the starting line, and no less than 100 boats have already registered. Among them, the winner of the Surprise category in 2021, Sarah Jaccaud, or the Melges 32 Gaston, winner of the overall ranking in elapsed time. The TF35 hydrofoil multihulls, the M2 catamarans, the Psaros 33 and 40, the new Luthis and many other stars of Lake Geneva, who have been putting on a show over the years, are all expected to be on the starting line on June 11.
