The Offshore Racing Congress is pleased to announce RaceFlow 2.0, an updated web platform that brings ORC’s Weather-Routed Scoring (WRS) available for use by race committees and scoring officers.
Offshore and coastal races rarely see steady conditions from start to finish. When the wind shifts or dies overnight, fixed handicap numbers often favor one end of the fleet over another. Weather-Routed Scoring solves this by simulating how each yacht sails the course through forecasted weather, producing custom Time Correction Factors (TCFs) based on the wind and current conditions boats are expected to encounter on the race.
RaceFlow 2.0 pairs the ORC Velocity Prediction Program (VPP) and certificate database with the PredictWind routing engine, packing the entire workflow into a clean browser interface built specifically for event management.
Built for the Scoring Desk and Race Committee
RaceFlow 2.0 focuses directly on simplifying and accelerating the workflow before, during, and after a race with the following features:
Direct ORC Rating Data Integration:
One-click boat selection and automatic fleet sync with the global ORC certificate database, as well as import from existing ORC Scorer files.
Interactive Visual Course & Exclusion Zone Designer:
Intuitive map-based waypoint management and visual polygon geofencing to steer fleets safely around TSS zones, shallow waters, and hazards.
Single-Click Scoring Factors & Exports:
Automatic generation of Time-on-Time (TOT) and Time-on-Distance (TOD)allowances, exportable directly to ORC Scorer XML, CSV, and standalone interactive HTML packages.
Wind & Race Breakdown:
Duration-weighted wind distributions (TWS / TWA), upwind/reaching/downwind breakdowns, and correlation scatter plots to validate scoring models against fleet performance and see how the weather affected different boats.
Visual Fleet Animation & Scratch Sheets:
Real-time speed heatmaps, animated playback showing how the race unfolds, and print-ready scratch sheets for the race committee board.
Sample Output & Live Links
Below are interactive examples of RaceFlow 2.0 outputs:
Routing Results & Fleet Standings:
View calculated TOT/TOD allowances, predicted elapsed times (PET), and individual speed heatmaps across the fleet.
Animated Fleet Playback:
Watch the fleet navigate the course along with live telemetry (SOG, TWS, TWA, and currents).
Wind & Race Analysis:
Inspect duration-weighted wind histograms, point-of-sail regimes, and performance scatter charts.
Printable Scratch Sheets (TOT / TOD):
See instant time-allowance tables formatted for race committee notice boards and competitor briefings.
Availability
RaceFlow is now available as a free service for race organizers. The ORC technical staff assists with initial event setup and allocates all necessary routing credits as well as providing help and support.
