The 22nd edition of the Sandberg PalmaVela continues to consolidate its position as one of the leading regattas of the international sailing calendar. With several weeks still to go before the start of competition, the event organized by the Real Club Náutico de Palma has already surpassed 100 registered teams across its two main competitions: La Larga, the offshore race around the Balearic archipelago, and the multiclass programme that will take place in the Bay of Palma.
Across both events, participation of more than 1,200 sailors is expected. They will compete between April 25 and May 4 in what will be one of the first major European gatherings of large boats and international fleets of the season.
“Surpassing 100 registered teams at this stage confirms that Sandberg PalmaVela continues to grow and that the work of the entire organizing team is paying off. It is extremely satisfying to see owners and crews from different countries once again choosing Palma as their meeting point to start the season,” explains Manu Fraga, director of the Real Club Náutico de Palma.
The Maxi class once again strengthens its presence in Palma, with teams already entered in both La Larga and the multiclass programme, confirming the appeal of Sandberg PalmaVela for some of the most spectacular yachts on the international scene.
Meanwhile, the ORC A2 class will arrive in Palma after the European Championship, currently being held as part of the 200 Millas DH organized by the Club Náutico de Altea. This makes Sandberg PalmaVela a key event for continuing the competitive momentum among Europe’s leading offshore crews.
Interest in taking part in this edition continues to grow.
The second discounted registration deadline closes on March 23, and the organizers expect the number of entries to increase by nearly fifty additional teams in the coming weeks, further confirming the strong participation levels the regatta is experiencing.
With more than two decades of history, Sandberg PalmaVela continues to establish itself as one of the most complete regattas in the Mediterranean, combining offshore competition, top-level classes and a broad multiclass programme in one of the world’s most renowned sailing venues: the Bay of Palma.
