Conceived in 2016 as part of the We Are Foiling events ecosystem and now in their sixth edition, the Foiling Awards are given to the best foiling projects, athletes and events of the year, upon the preferences expressed by the worldwide Community of enthusiasts and industry insiders.
The awarding categories are: male sailor, female sailor, sailing team, innovation technology, sustainability, foiling project, foiling event, motor boat, commercial boat, one-off boat and production boat.
To these are added for the sixth edition: water-toy and foiling pathway (for the National Federation or organization that realized the best project to promote foiling).
The news of the sixth edition is the overall "Forlanini Award", dedicated to the Italian foiling pioneer Enrico Forlanini, who at the beginning of the 20th century conceived and successfully tested the first sailing prototypes capable of rising from the water at speed. The "Forlanini" will be assigned to one of this edition prize-winners by a jury of previous awarded ones.
From February 28th till March 17th, it will be possible to express one's preferences by registering on the event website (https://foilingawards-halloffame.org) and vote for the list of nominees selected by the Foiling Awards Steering Committee. In addition to information on categories and nominees, the event's roll of honor will also be available.
The ceremony will take place at 6pm on March 29th in Milan at Museo Scienza e Tecnologia Leonardo da Vinci. For reasons of space, access will be on invitations.
