The Baltic Yacht's team look forward to welcoming you on Stand QH4 at the upcoming Monaco Yacht Show, the world's leading superyacht exhibition where the who's who of the industry will be gathering shortly.
Visit Baltic Yachts to learn more about the outstanding Baltic 117 Perseverance, our new builds and launches and talk to personnel from Finland and Palma where our Service and Refit operation has also been enjoying one of its busiest summer seasons.
Next year, 2023, will mark 50 years of Baltic Yachts. Since the company's foundation by five young boat builders, Baltic Yachts has evolved from top quality series production yacht builder to the world's leading exponent of fast, luxurious multi-role super-sailing yachts built of advanced composites. We'll be celebrating in style with some of these yachts next year in Finland, Palma and Porto Rotondo in Sardinia where we will be staging a special 50th anniversary Baltic Yachts Rendezvous to which all Baltic-built yachts are invited.
Yacht of the Year, Perseverance
This outstanding neo-classic fast cruising cutter won not only best yacht in her size category, but also Yacht of the Year at the Boat International World Superyacht Awards earlier this year. And in the more recent Boat International Design and Innovation Awards, she won the important Eco Award and Best Naval Architecture Award for her category.
Power saving innovations and the use of emissions-free, super-quiet electric propulsion are among the items which impressed judges. Her excellent sailing characteristics, luxurious interior and double cockpit deck layout protected by a distinctive deep bulwark are other stand-out features.
The powerful 117ft yacht was commissioned by an experienced owner who returned to Dykstra Naval Architects following the success of his previous yacht. He wanted to undertake longer passages in comfort and at pace, so was looking for a larger yacht with excellent sailing characteristics, ease of maintenance and power saving systems. He chose Baltic Yachts for its ability to deliver in all these areas.
Perseverance's stunning metallic-bronze hull bears many of the traditional hallmarks for which the design team is renowned, including her straight stem, deep bulwarks, truncated counter and distinctive deck houses which are skinned in teak. Like the timber caprail, they are treated with oil rather than varnish to reduce maintenance.
But beneath the traditional look lies the latest thinking in efficient super-sailing yacht technology all contained in her pre-preg carbon composite hull and deck. An electric main propulsion engine is an increasingly popular option aboard Baltic-built sailing yachts and Perseverance is fitted with a 278kW Danfoss motor, a large battery bank and twin generators for normal charging. By free-wheeling her propeller while sailing she can re-charge her batteries and spend long periods in 'silent' mode with all systems running. No emissions, no fossil fuels, almost silent running, easier installation and freed up space are the big advantages of the Danfoss unit.
Using waste energy from the air conditioning system to heat the domestic water supply, reducing the number of water pumps throughout the yacht to just two and using frequency-driven pumps to restrict running time are other less obvious technical features which have reduced power consumption significantly. Smart lighting in the stunning 14-berth accommodation, designed by deVosdeVries, also reduces energy demand.
Perseverance has already proved to be a powerful, fast and easy to use sailing yacht capable of reaching speeds in the high teens with ease. With her Southern Spars main boom furling system, Hall Spars carbon rig and easily deployed choice of upwind and downwind sails, her crew can maintain optimum performance in different conditions.
Henry Hawkins, Baltic Yachts EVP, said: "We are delighted for the owner and the whole Baltic Family to see Perseverance being voted a winner in so many categories. The eco award is particularly important and although a superyacht is unlikely ever to be totally 'green' there are many small innovations we can offer at Baltic Yachts which add up to a great deal."
