Catana Group launches its 14th Bali Catamarans model, the Bali 5.8, for the brand’s 10th anniversary!
Always bigger, always more powerful, always more… Bali!
This time, the new BALI 5.8 is completing the range from the top down. The 38-foot Bali Catsmart was launched in April 2023 at last year’s International Multihull Show at La Grande Motte, and the R&D teams, accompanied by the Piaton- Bercault design studio, wasted no time, since just a few months later, the Bali Catamarans range has been extended with a flagship even bigger than the previous model.
At 18 metres in length and over 9 metres in beam, the brand’s DNA is clear to see on every level, or should we say every deck!
Bali Catamarans knows how to be gigantic in all the models in its range, by opening up the boats and offering nearly 20% more space than traditional catamarans of the same size. So when it comes to 18metres, the art of Bali Catamarans clearly shines through!
More than spacious cabins
The owner’s master suite is worthy of a palace, offering storage and living space to meet the expectations of this clientele sector, who are very demanding in terms of volume, space, light and sea views. The bathroom has been completely redesigned and is very spacious, with a XXXL shower to match the size of the boat.
The other cabins are not to be outdone, with Islands Beds in each, allowing easy access to either side of the bed.
The BALI 5.8 also offers TWIN cabins, with separate berths in the centre of the boat, for welcoming friends, but without risk of entanglement.
Finally, note that all the bathrooms, even aboard the 6-cabin version, have separate showers and toilets, for great comfort in all circumstances: family stays or cabin-charter cruising.
The saloon cockpit, the DNA of Bali Catamarans par excellence
The saloon-cockpit is the DNA of the brand, thanks to the tilting far door. It offers a unique, vast living space, where the layout and design are fully expressed.
The galley is also XXL in size, with high-level cupboards, a wider countertop and is U-shaped and can accommodate several when under way, even when it’s rough.
The dining area has been designed to incorporate a lounger and a table that will seat 12. As much a living area as a place to rest, it’s a key feature of the boat.
A relaxing bench seat or 2 lounge chairs: the choice is yours! Both are possible. With an integrated bar, and depending on how it’s used, it’s more than a lounge, it’s a relaxation area!
The deep, wide outside bench seat facing the saloon means you can stretch out, sit up, sleep or chat, all while remaining connected to both the saloon and the sea.
Finally, the large forward door and large opening window allow you to enjoy all the interiors, sheltered from UV rays and the sun, while guaranteeing a tunnel of ventilation throughout the boat, which only the Bali concept can offer.
The chart table is set apart and well isolated from the rest of the spaces andis forward-facing. Its position ensures proximity to the rest of life on board, while guaranteeing optimum safety for navigation without being disturbed by the other activities on board.
To ensure that sailing is as pleasant as possible, particular attention has been paid to accommodating the crew, who are crucial to the smooth running of the boat. A large double Captain’s cabin is available for the master version, so that both owners and crew can enjoy their own privileged area.
The forward cockpit: a terrace overlooking the sea.
By connecting the galley directly to the inside of the boat, the wide forward door allows both guests and the wind to circulate freely.
The foredeck features a sunbathing, dining and lounge area that no other traditional catamaran can offer. It’s a unique feature!
The fact that the boat is fully decked from bow to stern makes it even stiffer under sail and creates better sailing performance because the platform is rigid. For weight reasons, Bali has also replaced the bulkhead reinforcements with carbon, a feature handed down from Catana, thus avoiding the need to add layers and layers of classic glass cloth. All this contributes to the silence that reigns on the boat: not a squeak, not a creak! Only the sound of the sea!
The flybridge becomes The Rooftop!
It’s what everyone dreams of: a Rooftop! Bali has been designing it since the very beginning and on all models (except the 38). It’s an essential place for watching, relaxing, sailing, partying and chatting.
Both a lounge and a sunbathing area, the flybridge is optimised and modular, adapting to the time of day and the cruising style.
The sail handling and helming areas are clearly identified, for the safety of passengers and the peace of mind of the crew. The 2/3 - 1/3 helm seat is modular. A hardtop (or bimini) covers the entire flybridge, providing UV and heat protection, permanent ventilation and an unbeatable view!
The solar panels are fully integrated for total self-sufficiency.
Feet in the water at the stern of the boat
Here, Bali has optimised access to the sea via the aft steps, offering wider, more spacious bathing areas.
A relaxing chair is installed right here, facing aft: an incredible spot!
The optional hydraulic platform allows you to bask in just a few centimetres of water but is still capable of lifting a substantial sized tender.
Sailing first!
Because sailing is the very DNA of a hybrid, Bali has designed the Bali 5.8 to perform extremely well.
All the sail areas have been optimised, offering up to 240m² of upwind canvas.
Bali’s classic chines reduce the wetted area, while guaranteeing an extremely comfortable volume in the hulls above floor level.
The self-tacking jib is easy to handle and guarantees upwind performance in strong winds and the sail wardrobe can easily be complemented by a very large CODE 0, which can be handled from the cockpit.
This model is manufactured in our factory in Canet en Roussillon in the South of France, and will be on show to the public this year’s Cannes Yachting Festival.
