On 1 August, shipyard KM Yachtbuilders reached an important milestone in the construction of the Bestevaer 53 'Tethys': the day on which the aluminium hull of TV personality Tom Waes’s new yacht was turned!
Tom Waes (internationally known for his role in the Netflix hit ‘Undercover’) chose KM Yachtbuilders to realise his nautical dream, and he emphasised: “For me, there has always been something magical about Bestevaer. The adventure, the quality, robustness, and the years of expertise have always appealed to me. The close contact with KM Yachtbuilders employees and being able to customise my ship was the deciding factor.”
After the turning of the hull Tom was visibly relieved. ‘I’m happy. Really happy. The last time I saw the ship the first three meter of the bow had just been built. And to now see this….incredible!” The Bestevaer 53 'Tethys' is built with 70% recycled aluminium and will be equipped with an electric drive and a regenerating propeller, as environmentally-friendly choices. The interior will be made of bamboo, with three cabins, and ample storage in the bow for optimum comfort and practical uses. The impressive aluminium hull was turned with precision and care by the craftsmen and the ship crane. The construction builders of KM Yachtbuilders, who have more than 100 impressive explorer yachts to their name, were also looking forward to this moment that never fails to be special.
