After the Pogo RC and the POGO 50², French boatbuilder Pogo Structures expands its sailboat range with the POGO 33, a fast 10.26-metre cruiser that borrows the racing hull of the Pogo RC and puts it to work for racer-cruising and fast cruising. Designed to sail fast, the POGO 33 is a genuine cruising yacht also engineered to shine under IRC. It will be offered in two versions — fixed keel and lifting keel — to suit every type of sailing programme.

A RACING HULL FOR CRUISING

The POGO 33 is built on the hull of the Pogo RC, developed by naval architects Bernard Nivelt and Sam Manuard. A modern semi-scow hull, optimised for racing and drawing on the latest developments in the open classes (Mini, Class40 and IMOCA), it delivers a level of speed rarely seen on a cruising boat of this size. Where the Pogo RC is a pure racing boat, the POGO 33 carries over all of its seaworthiness and puts it to work for cruising and racer-cruising. It’s a fast, safe, planing cruiser, equally at ease at every point of sail and always ready to surf. «With the POGO 33, we wanted to give sailors the pleasure of a genuinely high-performance boat — one that can hold its own in a race without compromising on comfort or safety. It’s the return of a true racer-cruiser!» says Tanguy Bouroullec, co-director of the company.

A TRUE CRUISER THAT HOLDS ITS OWN UNDER IRC

This is what makes the POGO 33 unique: cruising accommodation and comfort combined with genuine competitiveness under IRC rating. The POGO 33 lets its owner set off cruising with the family just as easily as lining up at the start of a race. Beyond the great offshore classics (the Fastnet, the Transquadra or the Transat Cap-Martinique), the POGO 33 is also built for the pleasure of local racing — all the weekend IRC races sailed week after week in home waters. A boat that races as well as it cruises.

A NEW DECK FOR MORE VOLUME AND COMFORT

The POGO 33’s main advance over the Pogo RC lies in an entirely new deck, which frees up living space and turns the boat into a genuine cruiser, with a protected cockpit, spacious cabins, a proper enclosed heads and a technical locker. Below decks, the layout is built around a double cabin forward and a double cabin aft, complemented by additional berths in the saloon. An enclosed heads with WC is fitted aft. A functional galley (sink, oven), a chart table and generous stowage (hanging locker, lockers, technical locker) round out an interior designed for life on board — simple and efficient, in true Pogo style. «We started from a racing hull to design, around an entirely new deck, a bright and liveable interior. The goal was to offer real cruising volume, on a genuinely high-performance platform,» says Paul Bouroullec, co-director of the company.

TWO VERSIONS FOR EVERY SAILING PROGRAMME

The POGO 33 will be offered in two versions sharing the same hull and the same layout. The fixedkeel version (1.95 m draught) favours performance and simplicity, and rates better under IRC — ideal for a racing-focused programme. The lifting-keel version opens up access to shallow anchorages and widens the cruising ground, in the Pogo tradition. A carbon mast is offered as an option, with an aluminium mast fitted as standard.

A PROJECT UNDER DEVELOPMENT

Currently in the design phase, the POGO 33 involves Pogo Structures’ in-house design office in Combrit together with the Manuard–Nivelt design duo. Its construction follows in the direct line of Pogo’s «high-tech» approach, the fruit of nearly 40 years’ offshore racing experience. Launch of the first unit is scheduled for early summer 2027.
