The annual Design & Leadership Award Gala took place on October 26 at the Ritz Carlton in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The Gala provided a platform for the industry's most influential professionals to come together and honor the remarkable accomplishments of this year's outstanding award recipients.
With exterior and interior design by Nauta Design and naval architecture by Farr Yach Design, Nyumba was awarded by the judges committee with the following motivations: "Elegant, stylish and practical racing / sailing yacht. Great focus on sustainability. Comfortable deck areas and great beach club space. Excellent use of modern technologies and systems. Light, airy, sophisticated interior with muted colours and great comfort. Very dynamic yacht with a specific mission! Sexy and sleek!".
"Although this is the fourth hull in the SW96 series, Nyumba is uniquely special," says Massimo Gino, co-founder of Nauta Design in Milan and longtime design partner of Southern Wind. "Not only she is Southern Wind's first yacht with an Hybrid propulsion engineered with BAE Systems to be compliant with IMO Tier III regulations. The sleek and simple lines of her GT deck configuration represent an important evolution of the GT deck concept we first introduced on the SW105 Taniwha."
Southern Wind CEO, Marco Alberti, comments on the success of Nyumba: "I believe that Southern Wind and Nauta succeeded in creating a true 'home away from home' by closely collaborating with the owners and enabling a high degree of customization in the exterior and interior design and decoration."
