Just few days after arriving in the Catalan city, the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team was out for its first sail aboard the AC75 on the racecourse of the 37th America's Cup. «It was a very important day for us», commented Skipper and Team Director Max Sirena. «We finally sailed in Barcelona with the official Cup boat and are very happy with this first training session. We have seen some competitors from afar and are ready to continue our development program and training in preparation for racing. I would say it’s been a very positive day for the team».
«The weather conditions were as expected», explained Francesco "Checco" Bruni, one of the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli helmsmen. «We had between 10 and 15 knots of wind and a short, messy wave that made sailing challenging but very interesting. Probably the ones we will encounter in the regattas will be even higher, so it's good to be here, training every day and learning how to use this racecourse to our advantage. Kudos to the shore team who did an amazing job to get the boat in sailing condition after only a few days from its arrival».
Umberto Molineris and Andrea Tesei, two of Luna Rossa's trimmers, are also very satisfied: «It was a very important day and I would say it went more than well», says Molineris; «we fitted our second wing, so the boat is now in a symmetrical configuration that allows us to get into competition mode and work on performance».
«The first day of sailing you never push too hard», Tesei explains, «but we did a very good training also on a virtual course and tried different maneuvers. The feelings are really very good».
