«Luna Rossa will be back with its youth sailors» said Patrizio Bertelli after the team lost the finals of the Louis Vuitton Cup. This new beginning starts today, with a “special” training session that symbolizes the team’s transition into the future.
The AC75 Luna Rossa was rigged and launched for a sailing session in Barcelona with a mixed crew that combined the young talents with the sailors who participated in the Challenger Selection Series. «The purpose of this day» said Max Sirena, Skipper and Team Director of Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli, «is to give the young sailors – and those who had fewer opportunities – the chance to get on board and gain experience on the official America's Cup boat». These sessions also send a message of confidence to the team and to Luna Rossa’s many supporters, reassuring them of the future of a syndicate which, since 1997, has represented Italy's national sailing and the excellence of Made in Italy worldwide.
Luna Rossa is also scheduled to sail again tomorrow, Saturday, October 12. During these sessions the crew on board rotated the helmsmen Marco Gradoni, Ruggero Tita and Gianluigi Ugolini.
