The UIM E1 World Championship, the world’s first and only all-electric raceboat championship, is set to make a stunning return to the water as it marks 50 days to the Venice GP in Italy, on May 11th and 12th.
Taking place on the island of the San Clemente Palace Kempinski Hotel, E1 will be bringing a wave of glamour and celebrity to the city, with a number of big-name team owners expected to touchdown on the Adriatic.
One of the championship’s flagship events, history and innovation are set to collide as the electric sport revolution arrives in the iconic City of Water. The racing aims to shine a spotlight on how the development of clean technologies in elite sport can have a broader impact on marine transportation in the city as it faces its well-documented environmental challenges.
Out on the water, Venice will host Jeddah winners Team Brady as they look to extend their lead over the rest of the fleet.
Team Miami will also be in town and seeking to move up a podium spot in the final race, previously taking fastest qualifier in Jeddah. Meanwhile, Team Rafa will be aiming to better their third-place spot, having rued the day a lap routing miscalculation cost them the top spot at the Jeddah GP.
Rodi Basso, CEO and co-founder of E1, said: “We are thrilled to bring the Championship to the city of Venice – famous for its nautical heritage. The storylines created and competitiveness of racing in Jeddah has put the wind in our sails and we cannot wait to showcase the spectacular city of Venice, and the forthcoming E1 Grand Prix.”
