Baglietto, Floating Life and Volvo Penta announce the sale of a 48-metre full-custom project — a tailor-made yacht conceived for ocean crossings and long-range cruising at extreme latitudes.
Born from a shared vision and a strong design identity, the new Baglietto hull no. 10277 is a 48-metre full-custom yacht conceived for an experienced owner who requested a vessel capable of circumnavigating the globe. A concept that translates the desire to combine autonomy, efficiency and comfort into engineering terms, setting a new benchmark in the construction of high-end exploration yachts.
The project results from the collaboration between Baglietto, Floating Life and Satura Studio, with Zero13 providing technical supervision for the naval engineering.
Floating Life has overseen every phase of the design on behalf of the owner, coordinating a process of exceptional nautical craftsmanship involving teams specialised in design, naval architecture and technical development.
The hull is designed to achieve ICE CLASS 1D certification, enabling safe navigation in extreme environments and at high latitudes. The naval architecture, developed to minimise hydrodynamic resistance, ensures excellent efficiency and an autonomy exceeding 5,000 nautical miles, with fuel consumption reduced by up to 30%.
The aesthetic and functional concept reflects Floating Life’s design philosophy: maximum connection with the sea and seamless continuity between interior and exterior spaces.
Warm, natural materials, together with refined textures and tactile surfaces, create an elegant and welcoming atmosphere.
Among the most distinctive architectural features are the panoramic main-deck saloon with 360° glazing, and the uninterrupted lower deck, made possible by locating the engine room on the under-lower deck. Transparent staircases connecting the various levels further enhance the sense of fluidity and lightness on board.
Propulsion will be provided by the Volvo Penta IPS Professional Platform, the most advanced system currently available for large yachts.
This fully integrated solution — connecting propellers, transmissions, engines and steering into a single digital platform — delivers smoother, quieter and more controlled navigation.
The Eco Mode function automatically optimises the number of active propulsors, deactivating two during cruising or manoeuvring, thus reducing fuel consumption, emissions and maintenance intervals.
Its compact design frees up valuable volume in the engine room, allowing for larger guest and crew areas. In addition, the dual power-input configuration enables the combination of multiple energy sources, ensuring operational redundancy and flexibility even during long-range passages.
A particularly innovative feature is the launch and recovery system for the 10-metre tender, entirely custom-designed by the owner’s team in collaboration with Besenzoni.
Inspired by the traditional launching systems of Italian shipyards from the 1940s–1960s, it has been reinterpreted in a contemporary key through a retractable platform that allows safe and rapid sea-level operations — a unique solution in today’s market.
“We are very pleased to renew this constructive collaboration with Floating Life,” said Fabio Ermetto, Chief Commercial Officer of Baglietto. “This project confirms the yard’s flexibility and our vocation for bespoke yachts with high technological content, further demonstrated by our partnership with Volvo Penta.”
“Working with excellence such as Baglietto and Volvo Penta is a great source of pride for us,” stated Andrea Pezzini, co-founder and Director of Floating Life. “This 48-metre yacht represents our vision of tailor-made: accompanying the owner through every stage, from technical development to spatial design. It is the most recent result of our New Build Division.”
“We are proud to be partners of Baglietto and Floating Life in this project,” added Nicola Pomi, Vice President of Volvo Penta’s Yacht and Superyacht Division. “The adoption of the IPS Professional Platform marks a significant evolution in the superyacht world: combining innovation, efficiency and superior performance for long-range cruising, redefining the future of high-end yachting.”
