Day two of the SSL at the 33rd SEA Games in Pattaya featured intense nation-against-nation races. Thailand extended its lead with two wins, while Malaysia and the Philippines kept the competition tight in the mixed-team keelboat class.

The races took place under a northwesterly forecast with clear skies and temperatures reaching 31 degrees. Local crowds gathered to witness the event, which demanded precision and strength from the sailors. Five nations competed on a windward-leeward course set against Pattaya's skyline.

In the first race, SSL Team Thailand took an early lead, with SSL Team Malaysia closely matching their pace. SSL Team Philippines had a challenging start but managed to round the first weather mark ahead of Thailand. Downwind, Vietnam encountered difficulties, allowing Thailand to secure the lead and win the race. Malaysia and the Philippines followed closely, with Myanmar and Vietnam completing the race.

Thailand's floater, Nichapa Waiwai, emphasized their strategy of simplicity and clean sailing as key to their success. The second race saw the Philippines initially leading, but Thailand quickly regained the lead as the breeze strengthened. Malaysia's strategic moves allowed them to finish second, with Myanmar third and the Philippines fourth.

Malaysia's skipper, Khairulnizam Mohd Afendy, highlighted the importance of tactical decisions in their performance. He noted that early gybes in both races helped them regain positions. The current leaderboard shows Thailand in the lead, followed by Malaysia, Myanmar, and the Philippines.

Philippines captain Ridgely Balladares expressed confidence in their ability to contend for a podium finish, focusing on improving crew work. Khairulnizam echoed the sentiment of tight competition, emphasizing belief in their team.
