The new Southern Wind 108 Kalantis has been delivered in Cape Town. It is the third unit of the semi-custom SW108 line and stands out for a project entirely designed by Nauta Design, covering concept, exterior and interior styling.

This is a key aspect: Nauta is today one of the most internationally recognized yacht design studios, with an approach that over the years has helped define a design language capable of combining aesthetics, functionality and onboard livability. In Kalantis, this approach is clearly evident, confirming the strength of its collaboration with Southern Wind.

The project is built around a balance between sailing performance and long-range cruising comfort, tailored to the needs of young and dynamic owners. Clean lines, functional solutions and a layout focused on usability define the overall design philosophy. One of the most distinctive elements is the Seaside Lounge, conceived as a direct extension of the relationship with the sea. At the stern, a system jointly developed by Southern Wind and Nauta allows the structure to open up, creating a water-level terrace. This flexible space can be reconfigured throughout the day, adapting to different functions and moments of use.

From an exterior design perspective, Kalantis builds on concepts already applied to other successful Southern Wind yachts such as Taniwha, Nyumba and Gelliceaux. The flush deck, low-profile coachroof and GT deck geometry contribute to a sleek profile, while also enhancing sailing efficiency. The integration of glazing and skylights is designed to ensure visual continuity and maximize natural light below deck.

The interiors reflect a contemporary design approach, based on a balanced contrast between light and dark tones. The white Ultraleather ceiling, fabric-covered panels and light surfaces are combined with darker woods, particularly walnut, used for furniture and detailing. The result is an environment focused on brightness, visual balance and comfort.

Natural light plays a central role in the project, with large hull windows in all cabins and the saloon, complemented by a forward coachroof skylight. Details such as the slatted walnut cladding of the keel box introduce a subtle visual rhythm, repeated throughout the interiors to reinforce overall coherence.

The layout includes four cabins: the owner’s suite forward, a single guest cabin ahead of the saloon, and two convertible guest cabins aft, all with en-suite bathrooms. The open-plan saloon combines living and dining areas, extending towards a starboard TV lounge, enhancing the sense of space and visual connection with the exterior.

From a technical standpoint, Kalantis has an overall length of 32.77 metres, extending to 35.51 metres including the bowsprit, and a maximum beam of 7.51 metres. Displacement is 74.2 tonnes lightship, while the draft ranges from 4 to 6.2 metres thanks to the lifting keel, confirming the yacht’s ocean-going capabilities and operational flexibility. Propulsion is provided by a Cummins QSB 6.7 engine delivering 305 hp at 2,600 rpm. The project brings together Nauta Design for concept, interior and deck design, Southern Wind Shipyard for construction and systems, and Farr Yacht Design for naval architecture.
