German shipyard is presenting a Y8 as an US premiere and an award winning Y7 at the Palm Beach International Boat Show. The two sloops are the only sailing yachts at the show.
Since 1982, the Palm Beach International Boat Show has grown to occupy a dominant position in South Florida with over 55,000 visitors attending the show in previous years. This year’s boat show is set from 19 to 23 March along Flagler Drive in downtown West Palm Beach, directly across the Intracoastal Waterway.
Normally, the Palm Beach International Boat Show is purely a motor yacht show. This year, however, YYachts is breaking with this image. The German shipyard for luxury sailing yachts is presenting two stunning sloops at the show – a Y7 and a Y8.
The 24-meter-long Y8 will be presented for the first time in the USA. Her exterior style follows the successful models of the yard's predecessors. Anticipating both family cruising, racing and chartering needs, the exterior design team of Surge Projects prioritized maximizing the beam within this category, providing a vast open cockpit for uninhibited enjoyment by all aboard, while simultaneously optimizing interior volumes.
From a technical point of view the yacht comes without a backstay, but includes a self-tacking jib, a carbon mast, a hydraulic system and electric winches – showing that this Y8 follows the YYachts philosophy of keeping it simple. Javier Jaudenes from Surge Projects comments: “The sail plan configuration strikes a balance between delivering substantial driving forces and mitigating heeling moments, delaying reefing until wind speeds of 18 knots.“
The interior of the Y8 on the show was designed by renowned architect and designer David Thulstrup. Thulstrup is an award-winning architect and designer whose refined and holistic approach to architecture, interiors and product design combines his Scandinavian heritage with a modern design language. The look of the interior reflects exactly this philosophy and Thulstrup's approach. Warm beige, brown and wood tones create a cozy ambience that is both relaxing and elegant.
Meanwhile, the Y7, a stylish Bill Tripp design, is one of YYachts' most successful models with 24 units sold to date. Her concept allows owners to sail the 22-meter yacht alone or with a very small crew and her lightweight construction sets sail even in light winds. The exhibit in Palm Beach is one of the most striking Y7s launched to date. Her sky-blue hull turns heads in any marina; the stylish exterior conceals a modern-minimalist interior.
The yacht was already exhibited at the Newport International Boat Show, where she was named ‘Best New Sailboat’.
On site in Palm Beach customers will be advised by the Rodgers Yacht Sales team. Led by Bob Rodgers, Rodgers Yacht Sales has been a trusted name in the yacht industry since 1987 and is the exclusive U.S. representative for YYachts, bringing the German brand’s yachts to American sailors. Bob Rodgers: „ We are excited showcasing these fast luxury yachts on one of the most exclusive yacht shows in the US and to celebrate a premiere for YYachts exhibiting the first time in Florida.“
