Porto Cervo, 20 December 2019. The Yacht Club Costa Smeralda congratulates Sporting Member Mauro Pelaschier on receiving the title of Commander of Merit of the Italian Republic from the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella for the following reason:

"For his distinguished contribution to raising awareness on the respect and safeguard of marine ecosystems."

The historic helmsman of Azzurra and current Ambassador for the One Ocean Foundation circumnavigated the Italian peninsula last year to raise awareness among the public and sailing clubs on pollution and the safeguard of the sea, promoting the principles of the Charta Smeralda.
