MarQuip completes first operational IMO TIER III exhaust system

MarQuip is proud to announce that we have had our first IMO TIER III exhaust system successfully certified and tested in Italy. Developed with our after-treatment partner, this custom compact SCR-Silencer module comes with a very efficient underwater exhaust system.

The idea of combining a silencer into an after-treatment system started almost 10 years ago, well before the IMO TIER III discussions even began. We already understood the benefits of combining exhaust components to save valuable space so were very well prepared for the future.

The shipyard involved in this project chose to work with MarQuip as we could act as the sole responsible party for all matters related to backpressure, dimensions, vibrations and noise. The main features of the system are:

· Compact modular design
· Maximum noise reduction > 50 dB(A)
· Low vibrations
· Designed for heavy-duty use with pressure pulsations up to 0.5 Bar (from waves)
· Efficient cooling system by nozzles
· Optimised backpressure control
