- A collaboration with an innovation and digitalisation road map that aims at developing new integrated bridges available from 2020 for series and megayachts

- The combination of all the TEAM Italia I-Bridge® features and of Onyx Marine Automation monitoring system with the features developed by Rolls-Royce merge perfectly in the MTU SmartBridge, which will integrate the propulsion system, automation, navigation, communication and digital functions

-The bridge developed jointly by the two companies will be already available in 2020 for full-custom megayachts and series yachts

At the Monaco Yacht Show 2019, TEAM Italia presented the first technical solutions stemming from the collaboration of TEAM Italia and Rolls Royce with its products and solution brand MTU.

The agreement signed during the last Cannes Yachting Festival formalises a collaboration that developed over the past 12 months. During this time, the R&D departments of the two companies started a journey to develop new solutions for an integrated bridge (the MTU SmartBridge), which will offer the market a top quality and incredibly innovative solution.

Massimo Minnella, Co-founder and TEAM Italia CEO, referred: “We’re delighted at the opportunity to work with Rolls-Royce and join forces with them in driving future technologies for the MTU brand. We already know from previous collaborations that our products complement each other perfectly and that quality and innovation are priorities we share.”

Knut Müller - Head of marine and governmental business of the Rolls-Royce’ business unit PowerSystems - declared: “The MTU SmartBridge is a significant piece of progress in terms of our evolution from a straightforward engine maker to an integrated systems provider. Our customers benefit because we supply them with a complete solution from one source.”

The modular concept underlying the new bridge solution satisfies the requirements of series yachts, which can be customised according to the owners’ requests.

The new solutions will have one common development platform which will implement the TEAM Italia I-Bridge® with the Onyx monitoring of all onboard systems and, additionally the MTU propulsion system, up to managing the data in the cloud.

This will make it easier for users to deal with all vessel management activities, including the “Analytics” activities that are essential for the engineering departments of shipyards.

The bridge developed jointly by the two companies will be already available in 2020 for full-custom megayachts and series yachts.
