Mulder Shipyard: second ThirtySix under construction

Superyacht

01/08/2017 - 13:32

Mulder Shipyard’s confidence in its position as a superyacht builder is pronounced by the start of construction of the second 36-metre MULDER THIRTYSIX in The Netherlands. Building ‘on spec’ it offers ALL YOU WANT!

The third-generation Dutch yachtbuilder – which has created a fleet of over 100 motor yachts since 1938 – commissioned the first THIRTYSIX for an existing Mulder yacht owner’s colleague, who was impressed by the award-winning 34-metre SOLIS. The first THIRTYSIX will be delivered in summer 2017 from Mulder’s new yard facilities, opened in 2013.

The second THIRTYSIX, with delivery scheduled for 2018, also benefits from all the best features of SOLIS – itself built as an intimate family yacht – and more, including economic running costs for private or charter use for a yacht of her size, thanks to being below 300 GT.

The THIRTYSIX has a Patented Aluminium Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF) giving a useful 15 knots cruising speed (16.8 knots max), and containing a transverse ‘garage’ for a 6.25-metre tender, two jetskis, kayaks, seabobs and diving gear. Embarkation may be via the side-opening hatch and the generous open stern beach club platform.

The slender eight-metre beam hull and long waterline, thanks to its plumb bow, ensure outstanding seakeeping and comfort even in rough seas – a hallmark of all Mulder-built motor yachts.

The THIRTYSIX’ full-beam design allows for privacy in the owners’ area forward and maximizes the use of the hull and superstructure’s volume, the owners also having dedicated access to a private seating area in the bow. Four more spacious cabins on the lower deck, on the first vessel, allow for a party of up to ten.

A fold-down balcony to starboard of the dining room’s opening glass doors, again allows for outstanding views as well as truly making for unsurpassed inside-out people flow. Guests can step out during a meal, without leaving the party, and enjoy the outside ambience and surrounding nature.

Floor to ceiling windows around the saloon and bar, immediately aft, allow for expansive views aft and natural light to flood in, conservatory style. Full-height curtains may provide intimacy at night. Reached through large glass doors, the shaded aft deck seating provides the ideal spot for a cocktail or al fresco meal, overlooking the beach club, both zones generously proportioned for the size of yacht.

Up top, the sun deck, reached via the raised wheelhouse or stairs from the side decks, sports an eight-person Jacuzzi, sun pads galore and another comfortable dining area. This could be the ‘number one table’ for lunch during Les Voiles de St Tropez regatta, anchored in the middle of the action, with 360-degree views, protected from the breeze by the windscreen forward!

Built of aluminium, with a comprehensive specification as standard, in accordance with and under survey of the rules and regulations of LY3, the MULDER THIRTYSIX is MCA Compliant allowing for future charter use.

The owner of this second THIRTYSIX will be able – at this stage in the build – to customize, specifying the interior finishes, changing the cabin configuration such as combining two guest cabins to make a vast VIP suite on the lower deck.
