Lagoon Catamarans, Beneteau Asia and Simpson Marine jointly celebrated the Asian Launch of the famous Lagoon flagship, the Seventy 7, at Aberdeen Boat Club’s Middle Island Club House, Hong Kong on Thursday 11 May 2017.

Organised by Simpson Marine, Asia’s nr 1 yacht sales and services company and long time Lagoon representative, the Asian Launch party gathered over 250 guests from various Asian countries on this unique occasion.

Attending guests were transported to the party directly from Aberdeen Boat Club’s main clubhouse, and enjoyed the scenic Middle Island setting against a sunset-lit backdrop of three smaller Lagoon catamarans anchored around the majestic Seventy 7.

The event was held in a Caribbean theme inspired by the dreamy connotations of Lagoon’s name and saw the clubhouse totally transformed with island-themed décor, Caribbean dancers, and a DJ playing Caribbean and Latin music.

Guests were greeted with champagne and caviar tastings and enjoyed a BBQ on the open terrace, which was transformed into a Caribbean island feel with over 300 palm tree leaves, aquariums, coral decorations, candles and flowers.

A big moment of the show was a speech by Yann Masselot, CNB Lagoon General Manager, together with Mike Simpson, Simpson Marine’s Managing Director, bringing more background to the creation of the Seventy 7, whose international success is well confirmed by the numbers: 15 sail units and 3 power units sold within a mere 8 months of her premiere at the Cannes Yacht Show 2016.

“The Seventy 7 comes as the beautiful result of years of research and discussions with our Lagoon 620 owners who were looking for a larger yacht as their next upgrade. Many of these owners are Asian and enjoy the space, stability, comfort and quality of our catamarans, and the devoted service support delivered by our local representative, Simpson Marine. Subsequently, it is not a surprise to us that 25% of the production of this new flagship has been sold to Asia,” confirms Yann Masselot, General Manager at CNB Lagoon.

The Seventy 7 proved to be an immense success during the Premiere event with guests admiring its innovative features such as a fold out balcony, housed within the master cabin hull wall, and her flowing layout with various entertaining areas. Her interior décor by Nauta Design was enhanced by a stylish display by St. Louis (Hermes group) and Frette. As a result of the event, various ongoing conversations on Lagoon catamarans are now underway with several attending guests and prospective buyers.

“After over 40 years in the yacht industry, I have been to many yacht shows and seen many yachts. It is rare for me to be swept off my feet by a new yacht, but as soon as I stepped aboard the Lagoon Seventy 7 at the world premiere in Cannes last September, I knew this yacht was a winner. I remember standing on the fold out terrace in the owner’s cabin and imagining myself sitting there having breakfast in some quiet Mediterranean anchorage. I was really hooked and even asked my Sales Director for the price and next delivery date!” says Mike Simpson, Managing Director at Simpson Marine.

So far, Simpson Marine has sold two Seventy 7 catamaran yachts, to Singapore and Malaysia, and the company believes that more of these yachts will be destined for Asia soon.
