Due to a damage to the starboard rudder, caused by the impact with a UFO (unidentified floating object),Class 40 ITA 55 Enel Green Power, which was racing the Transat Jacques Vabre, headed to Portugal on November 9th.

Once in Lisbon the crew, composed by skipper Andrea Fantini and co-skipper Alberto Bona, examined the issue with both the Partners and  the  Technical  staff.

The  comprehensive  assessment  and  technical  evaluation  confirmed  important  damages  to  the starboard rudder and many of the internal parts and fixation components, and that it was not possible to fix the damage quickly enough  to  meet  both  safety  and  sport  requirements.  So,  this  morning  at  11:00  ITA  55  Enel  Green  Power  officially  abandoned the  Transat  Jacques  Vabre.

Starting  today  the  team  will  remain  in  Lisbon  to  fixing  the  Class  40  in  order  to  restore  it  safe, competitive and ready to face new challenges.
