Molabo Marks 10 Years of High-Power 48 V Electrification

Molabo is marking 10 years since it was founded in 2016, celebrating a decade of innovation in safe, high-power low-voltage electrification. What began as a research project around ISCAD (Intelligent Stator Cage Drive) technology has evolved into a system solutions provider for electric and hybrid applications across marine, maritime, agricultural, and industrial markets.
The company’s story began in 2014, when the first patent was filed for ISCAD technology. The core engineering idea was ambitious: to deliver high power at safe-to-touch low voltage levels. At that time, the first movers in electric mobility were mainly using high-voltage systems, but Molabo pursued a different path, developing a 48 V architecture designed to combine performance, safety, and simplicity.
Molabo GmbH was founded in 2016 to bring this technology from concept to application. In 2018, the company validated its first proof of concept in a demo car. In 2019, Hechinger, an established manufacturer and supplier in the mobility, electrical and industrial sectors, invested in Molabo. The partnership brought industrialization experience, production know-how and quality expertise that helped accelerate product development and prepare the technology for customer applications.
“When we started Molabo, the question was simple but ambitious: could we deliver real power without the complexity and risk of high voltage? At the time, many people believed low-voltage systems would always be limited to auxiliary applications. Ten years later, we have shown that 48 V technology can power everything from sailing yachts to large commercial vessels and high-performance race boats, plus industrial vehicles and agricultural equipment. The journey from research idea to scalable electrification platform makes this milestone extremely meaningful,” said Adrian Patzak, COO of Molabo.
The launch of the ARIES i50 system solution in 2020 opened the door to Molabo’s highly successful marine business and brought safe, high-power low-voltage propulsion into real applications. The company has since introduced a variety of drive configurations, controls, batteries, and interfaces, plus expanded system engineering and application-specific support.
In 2023, Molabo launched the ARIES R50 outboard, extending its marine range from inboard system solutions into outboard propulsion. In 2024, Hechinger acquired Molabo.

In 2025, Molabo introduced system solutions for agricultural and industrial equipment. Successful applications such as the ONOX electric tractor and HG Systems generator have since demonstrated the effectiveness of ISCAD technology outside the marine sector.
The same year, Molabo introduced the ARIES Serial Hybrid System and the ARIES Jet Drive, further expanding the product portfolio and supporting more complex hybrid architectures and marine drive configurations.
The company's newest development, a steering actuator that enables precise, electronically controlled movement in a compact low-voltage package, extends Molabo's expertise from electric drive systems into electronic control and actuation.
As the company enters its second decade, Molabo’s direction is clear: continuing to advance 48 V technology from individual drive systems to complete high-performance electrification and electronic control platforms for the vehicles, vessels and energy systems of the future.
