As Official Apparel Supplier to the four-times America's Cup winner, Slam publicly launched its high-profile range on Saturday during the first Preliminary Regatta in Vilanova i la Geltrú, Spain, to more than 100 VIP guests, journalists and brand ambassadors.

Over the same weekend the SLAM-clothed New Zealand team won two races on their way to comfortably qualifying for the match race finale against NYYC American Magic, though the US team were announced the winners when the race was abandoned in a falling breeze.

"It has been an intriguing few days of racing and we are delighted that our Slam clothing for Emirates Team New Zealand has been so well received," said Slam CEO Enrico Chieffi. "Seeing the team get off to such a good start has also been very special."

And he added: "We are a small company – a start-up with a 40+ year-old history – and we are very innovative — we are extremely dedicated and competent, attributes we share with Emirates Team New Zealand."

The Slam collection emerged from a close and detailed collaborative process with Emirates Team New Zealand that focused on innovative materials and design, with the resulting clothing embodying their shared dedication to performance and excellence.

The range of jackets, sweatshirts, polo shirts, T-shirts and accessories are available worldwide, and are official identical replicas of the branded clothing worn by the Emirates Team New Zealand racing and shore teams with several items also specifically designed for women.

"The Slam clothing does everything we hoped it would do on and off the water," said helm Nathan Outteridge. "With the replica range it is a great opportunity for people to declare their interest in the America's Cup, with some perhaps also showing their support for Emirates Team New Zealand as the Defender!" he added.

Founded in the famed and historic port city of Genoa in 1979, the global Slam brand has always had a close affinity with the sea and a natural connection with Mediterranean culture and its nautical heritage. In the modern age Slam has been open minded to new developments, enabling it to weave in technical innovations and creative, pragmatic thinking to produce world-class clothing.

The presentation over the weekend celebrated the passion and excitement of sailing with contributions from guest speakers Enrico Chieffi, Slam brand manager Maurizio Priano, AC40 class president Luca Rizzotti, and French Olympic sailing medallist and foiling IMOCA sailor Sebastien Simon, who all took part in a round table-style conversation. A recorded interview with Emirates Team New Zealand CEO Kevin Shoebridge was also presented to the audience, in which he explained the roots of the sailing revolution that foiling has introduced to the sport.
