Still in its inaugural year, Marine Weather University’s (MWU) cutting-edge classes have already been enjoyed by thousands of students.  Veteran meteorologist, Chris Bedford and 2x America's Cup winning navigator Peter Isler have teamed up to provide a university-level weather education. MWU’s curriculum features over 20 individual classes – all online so students can learn at their own pace.

About Weather Models 201:  So many weather models – so little time.  Which one is best? Where do I find it? How do I get the most out of it? Your favorite weather app portrays the tip of the iceberg – there are thousands of weather models, each with its strengths and weaknesses depending on your location and needs.  In this two-part class Chris and Peter aim to help students obtain the best information out of these powerful tools.

The first class of this two-part course will explore the many models currently available and look at their sources, coverage, resolution, update frequency and what areas different models are best applied.   It is a wild world of models out there and it’s easy to become overwhelmed.  This class will help students get a handle on model differences, strengths and weaknesses.
The second class will investigate strategies for proper use and application of weather model guidance. Meteorologists have come up with clever ways to deal with the shear volume of available model data and this class will share those valuable techniques.   An optional workgroup with Chris and Peter will be offered to students who want personal attention to their questions at the completion of the two classes.

All of MWU’s courses are online for 24/7 on demand access.  Weather Models 201 will first be presented as live webinars before upload into the university. Enrollment to these live classes is limited to the first 100 students – so early registration is recommended for those that want to attend the live lectures.
