Rapid and Vitae, CAMAL Studio's debut in the nautical world
CAMAL Marine is born, a new department of the CAMAL design centre dedicated to the creation and customisation of yacht. With Rapid and Vitæ begins a new way of interpreting design through innovative methods and tools for the nautical sector.
Founded in 2008 in Turin by Alessandro Camorali, a past in the ranks of well-known brands and design centers in the history of Italian automotive design, CAMAL Studio boasts a young team of designers capable of satisfying every request in terms of concept design through the use of modern tools and a specialization towards the creation of innovative projects, unique cars or limited series signed CAMAL STILE. In January 2025, a new division called CAMAL Marine came into being, dedicated to research and development in the nautical field, offering innovative services and modern tools for the realisation of projects in the marine field.
The name chosen for these first two concepts are Rapid and Vitæ, a clear message from the past that draws on Italian style and the Latin spirit that pervades its nature. Sailing in human history has always meant discovery and courage, nobility and elegance, nature and sportiness. These values are now encapsulated in increasingly technical and evolved forms, yachts with a modern style and rich in detail, an expression of the owner rather than of the shipyard. In this scenario, CAMAL Marine's designers wanted to express two basic concepts interpreted by two different representations, with Rapid they sought speed and passion, with Vitæ elegance and relaxation. As embryos yet to be developed, both interpretations are an example, a blank sheet of proportions to be written with the customer's personality.
The project
After years of services in the automotive field, CAMAL Studio has decided to focus on the nautical sector, borrowing experience, techniques and tools assimilated in the course of multiple projects to pour them into a different sector but at the same time close in terms of luxury, sportiness and customisation. The creation of these two proposals aims to convey the vision of the design centre, and its new dedicated CAMAL Marine division, towards projects and services to be offered to an increasingly growing sector in need of new proposals for its customers.
The style - Rapid
It is the result of a stylistic idea to combine the power of the mid-1990s American powerboats with the nostalgia of the Italian lake boats of the 1960s. A primitive shape that pays homage to the boats of the Delta shipyards, from which Rapid borrows the dynamic and original shape of the hull.
Unlike the fast and sporty boats, this interpretation by CAMAL Marine aims to combine speed and comfort, increasing deck space without losing a sporty silhouette. Fast even from a standing start, the hull features two elements on the sides, real intake ducts for the engines that take their inspiration from aeronautical world, brutal and elegant in their simplicity. The dashboard is reminiscent of a sports car, while below deck we find a large bed and a kitchenette. The dichotomy between excitement and relaxation is encapsulated in the motorboat's dual exterior/interior form, eluding its real purpose.
Fibreglass hull, 26 m long (overall length 28 m), draught 1 m, beam 6.5 m, displacement 30 t, Rapid mounts 2 MAN V12/2000 engines.
The style - Vitæ
A graphic cleanliness of the hull, combined with greater usability of the spaces, represents an evolution of the boat concept. Each volume is designed to offer a more intimate relationship with the customer, combining comfort and modern style borrowed from the experience gained in the automotive world.
The aggressive bow slices through the waves, soaring the sporty figure, while the lowered rear and reclined cabin give the look of a coupe. Openings, air intakes and exposed sports details help the customer feel more in touch with the performance part of the vehicle. In fact, Vitæ is designed for coastal use, a way to share a day or weekend with friends, taking advantage of a large sunbathing bow and easy access to the water line at the stern.
Three cabins, three bathrooms, a living area on the main deck and a beach area equipped with a transformer that expands to extend the stern are aspects that make Vitæ unique, a ‘fast boat’ suitable for fun or relaxation without neglecting class and elegance.
Fibreglass hull, 23 metres in length (overall length 25.5 metres), draught 1.6 metres, beam 7 metres, displacement 48 tonnes, Vitæ houses 2 Volvo Penta IPS 1350 engines of 1000 hp each.
The design
Rapid and Vitæ are two concepts based on hulls and proportions similar to existing vessels, they represent a purely stylistic expression whose realisation would require design to be carried out through dedicated shipyards and design studios. The CAMAL Marine team has the experience and expertise to realise the designs and manage the project through third party partners who are among the best in the industry.
