Nautor Swan and Edmiston: A Partnership for the Future of Luxury Sailing
Nautor Swan and Edmiston have announced a new commercial partnership to develop a range of aluminum sailing superyachts over 40 meters. The first model will be designed by Malcolm McKeon Yacht Design, renowned for combining performance, comfort, and stylistic innovation.
This collaboration is a strategic move for both companies. For Nautor Swan, synonymous with excellence in sailing, it marks entry into a new segment—not only in yacht size but also in the use of aluminum, a material that offers lightness, durability, and enhanced performance. For Edmiston, one of the world’s leading yacht brokerage firms, this alliance confirms a shared vision aimed at strengthening Nautor Swan’s reputation among the key players in the maxi sailing yacht sector.
A New Chapter for Nautor Swan
The partnership with Edmiston aligns with Nautor Swan’s broader international expansion strategy, strengthening its position in the superyacht segment and advancing the Nautor Swan for America initiative. Launched in partnership with American Magic, this initiative aims to boost interest in high-end sailing in the United States, a key market for the brand’s future.
Massimo Perotti, Executive Chairman of Sanlorenzo, the group that owns Nautor Swan, emphasizes the importance of this project:
“We acquired Nautor Swan to expand our product offering and reinforce our presence in the sailing sector with an iconic brand. Sanlorenzo and Nautor Swan share common values and a unified vision, catering to a clientele of knowledgeable and passionate yacht owners. The collaboration with Edmiston is a natural step in this direction, opening up new opportunities for both brands.”
Jamie Edmiston, CEO of Edmiston, is equally enthusiastic about the new venture:
“We are delighted to collaborate with Nautor Swan and Sanlorenzo to position the Swan brand at the pinnacle of the sailing superyacht sector. Working closely with Massimo Perotti, Giovanni Pomati, and our team fills us with optimism and excitement for the future.”
Innovation and Sustainability in the New Swan Range
The first yacht in the new range will be developed by Malcolm McKeon Yacht Design, a studio renowned for high-performance projects that balance elegance and modernity. The design approach will ensure the perfect combination of performance and comfort while maintaining Nautor Swan’s distinctive aesthetic heritage.
From a technical perspective, the new aluminum sailing superyachts will be designed to offer:
• Protection and comfort: spacious living areas and ergonomic solutions for long-range cruising.
• High performance: optimized hulls for ocean voyages and top-level regattas.
• Sustainability: integration of eco-friendly solutions such as hydrogeneration systems, methanol and hydrogen technologies, already successfully adopted by Sanlorenzo.
Bruce Brakenhoff will be Edmiston’s lead contact for the project, overseeing commercial activities from the Newport, Rhode Island office—one of the world’s sailing capitals. This strategic move marks Nautor Swan’s significant return to a historically important market.
A New Benchmark in the Sailing Superyacht Market
With this initiative, Nautor Swan positions itself as a key player in the luxury sailing superyacht segment, attracting demanding yacht owners seeking a combination of performance, superior craftsmanship, and sustainability.
The new range represents a milestone for the Finnish shipyard, an opportunity for growth that could redefine the concept of high-end sailing in the coming years.
