Oceanco delivers DreAMBoat: 4,550 GT and an accelerated construction process
Oceanco has delivered DreAMBoat, a fully custom 111-metre superyacht with a gross tonnage of 4,550, completed within significantly reduced construction times thanks to a build process that sets a new benchmark for the Dutch shipyard. The project stems from the collaboration between Oceanco, exterior designer Espen Øino International and interior designer Mark Berryman, with Lateral Naval Architects responsible for naval architecture and Maritime Group for engineering. For onboard operations and comfort management, Oceanco integrated optimised solutions developed together with Royal Haskoning, while advanced environmental impact assessment tools were created in partnership with the Dutch yard.
Commissioned in 2022 by an owner who had previously entrusted Oceanco with a yacht of the same name, the project represented a significant challenge: preserving full customisation while working within a highly compressed development schedule. The sequence of milestones reflects the efficiency achieved: steel cutting in 2021, contract signed in February 2022, delivery in November 2025. For a full-custom yacht of this size, this represents a distinctly shortened lead time.
DreAMBoat was conceived for family use, with particular attention to privacy and to the ability to host guests without sacrificing usable space. Expanded interior volumes allow accommodation for up to 28 guests and 34 crew members. The owner emphasises that direct dialogue with the shipyard made it possible to accurately transfer preferences and onboard habits developed on the previous yacht.

The exterior areas were designed with conviviality in mind: aft, the layout features a winter garden, a covered cocktail terrace equipped with an outdoor cinema, and a private owner’s deck. The stern area incorporates a swimming pool, jacuzzi and a multifunctional zone that can be adapted to different activities. The bridge deck houses an additional relaxation area, while the sun deck offers further lounging options.
Interior amenities include a cinema lounge, a fully equipped gym, a spa with sauna and steam room, and a beach club with bar opening directly onto the swim platform. Extensive use of glass maximises natural light and maintains visual continuity with the exterior—an increasingly appreciated element in large-yacht design.
Construction efficiency was one of the central objectives. Oceanco focused on three key aspects: reducing the duration of the custom build compared to industry standards, ensuring direct access for the owner within the decision-making chain and strengthening collaboration between designers, co-makers and management teams. According to Lateral, the success of the project derives from the ability to coordinate a large number of technical interfaces within a compressed timeframe.

The project also enabled the development of innovative sustainability tools. In cooperation with Royal Haskoning, Oceanco co-created a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) system validated in the Netherlands, covering the main stages of the yacht’s lifecycle—from construction to everyday operation. The tool informed tangible design choices, from lower-impact materials to more efficient energy systems.
On the energy-efficiency front, DreAMBoat adopts solutions aimed at reducing consumption and emissions. The hybrid diesel-electric propulsion integrates batteries that enable zero-emission operation in specific conditions, while variable-speed generators optimise power use according to the actual load. A heat-recovery system reuses thermal energy produced by the engines for heating and other onboard functions. Oceanco states that these solutions contribute to an estimated CO₂ reduction of up to thirty percent compared with comparable yachts featuring traditional configurations.
The diesel-electric system also significantly reduces noise and vibration, improving onboard comfort. The energy-management system continuously monitors and optimises consumption, distributing power according to operational priorities.

DreAMBoat confirms Oceanco’s ability to handle complex full-custom projects while maintaining compressed timelines without compromising on personalisation. The Dutch shipyard demonstrates that construction efficiency and sustainability can coexist even in highly customised large-yacht programmes, where every detail remains shaped around the owner’s requirements.
