Cantiere delle Marche launches Tartaruga, a Nauta Air 108
With the launch of the Nauta Air 108 “Tartaruga”, Cantiere delle Marche continues the development of its semi-custom explorer yacht line, first introduced in 2014 with the debut of the original Nauta Air. The collaboration with Nauta Design, initiated with that project, remains a structural pillar of the range.
As underlined by Vasco Buonpensiere, co-founder and CEO of the shipyard, the industrial philosophy adopted over the years is not based on replacing models, but on continuously refining and improving them. The new 108 therefore represents a progressive evolution of the original concept, with targeted interventions in design, layout and technical solutions.
The Nauta Air 108 “Tartaruga” features several updates compared to previous hulls in the series. Among the most significant are the dark glazing seamlessly integrated along the main deck saloon, reinforcing the visual continuity of the hull sides, and the positioning of a 6-metre tender forward on the main deck.
Both exterior and interior design are by Nauta, ensuring a coherent stylistic language that enhances volumes and proportions. Interior spaces are bright and airy thanks to the generous hull volumes. The yacht accommodates up to 12 guests in five suites, while quarters for five crew members are located on the lower deck; the captain’s cabin is adjacent to the wheelhouse on the upper deck.
Social areas are mainly arranged in the aft cockpit, offering open views over the stern, and on the spacious sun deck, configured for outdoor living.
From a design perspective, Guido Valtorta, co-director of Nauta, notes that the project reflects the personal vision of the owner and his family, combining strong, timeless exterior lines with an authentic explorer spirit.
The layout has been conceived to ensure efficient and separate circulation flows for guests and crew, while interiors and exteriors are seamlessly connected. The fully custom interior concept features clean architectural geometries, carefully selected furnishings and a balanced palette of natural tones, with large glazed surfaces enhancing natural light intake.
The Nauta Air 108 has an overall length of 32.6 metres and a maximum beam of 7.55 metres. Propulsion is provided by two Caterpillar C18 Acert engines, each delivering 533 kW.
The yacht is equipped with a Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system to comply with IMO emission standards. In light of increasing restrictions on traditional anchoring in environmentally sensitive areas, the yacht also integrates a Dynamic Positioning system, allowing it to maintain position automatically without deploying anchors.
The naval architecture combines a bulbous bow with flat aft sections, solutions aimed at improving fuel efficiency, stability and seaworthiness — key elements for an explorer yacht intended for long-range cruising.
“Tartaruga” is the sixth hull in the Nauta Air series; a seventh unit is already under construction and scheduled for delivery shortly, confirming the continuity of the line within Cantiere delle Marche’s portfolio.
