RMK Yachts reveals two 55m concepts with Espen Oeino

RMK Yachts has released details of Arcane Era and Arcane Nova, two 55-metre superyacht concepts from the Turkish builder. Espen Oeino International was responsible for the concept, general arrangement and exterior styling, while Giorgio Cassetta handled the interior and exterior deck design. TWW Yachts represents both projects.

Together the two designs form the Arcane Project, named after "The Arcane Edge", the shipyard's motto. "Arcane Era closes the chapter. Arcane Nova opens the future," said Cüneyt Okcu, Director of RMK Yachts.

The main difference lies in the layout. Arcane Era follows a more traditional arrangement, with the bridge on the sundeck, and has a clamshell-shaped owner's deck. For Arcane Nova, Espen Oeino also drew a version with the wheelhouse moved forward, which he said made an exceptionally large sundeck possible. "The idea was to create living spaces that are genuinely comfortable and usable, whether the yacht is at anchor in a bay or alongside in port, while also providing areas that are protected from direct sunlight and the elements," said Oeino. On the upper deck, he explained, the exterior area forward of the owner's cabin connects directly with an interior lounge.

At the stern, the Piazza aft deck reworks the beach club concept as a 20-metre-long, 180-square-metre space open to the outdoors. The Piazzetta at the bow is a forward-facing lounge with an alfresco living area. The layouts also include the panoramic Love Nest terrace and the 35-metre RMK Jumbo Deck, with 190 square metres of outdoor space.

Arcane Era is based on an internal combustion engine configuration and Arcane Nova on a hybrid architecture. Both will use the Volvo Penta IPS Professional Platform. "The compact aft installation gave Espen and RMK much greater freedom in developing the GA and allocating volume below deck," said Nicola Pomi of Volvo Penta. According to Pomi, for a 55-metre yacht below 500 GT this means more usable space and the ability to combine long range with efficient operation. Both hybrid and internal combustion configurations will be available for future vessels.

Jean-Claude Carme, Managing Director at TWW Yachts, said the project began with the prospect of working with a reinvented RMK Yachts: a new team, new projects and a new shipyard expected to open in the first part of 2027. "I firmly believe in the success of the 'Magic Triangle' formed by a builder, a designer and a broker when they share a common sensibility and vision," said Carme.
