RORC IRC National Championship - Round 3 FAST40+ Race Circuit

Competitive, thrilling racing, with a friendly atmosphere ashore, is the mantra of the hi-tech FAST40+ Class. With the owner at the helm, and a pro-am crew, the FAST40+ Class delivers exhilarating racing with professional race management.

The FAST40+ Class will be in action this weekend at the RORC IRC National Championship – Round 3 FAST40+ Race Circuit. Returning to the Solent combat-arena, after a feisty battle in Poole Bay last month, Round 3 is the halfway stage for the 2019 FAST40+ Race Circuit. At this halfway stage in the season, there is every likelihood that a new leader will emerge.

Peter Morton's Girls on Film scored all-podium finishes in the last round, and will be looking to close in on Rán, which currently leads the 2019 FAST40+ Race Circuit. Niklas Zennstrom's Rán will not be competing in Round 3, as Rán has travelled to Sweden to take part in the Gotland runt.

After 15 races in the previous two rounds, Steve Cowie's Zephyr is currently third for the season, just ahead of FAST40+ debutant Redshift, with Ed Fishwick at the helm. Filip Englebert's Elvis and Tony Dickin's Jubilee are just two points apart. Niall & Olivia Dowling's Arabella returns to FAST40+ racing, having missed the last round. Sadly, Mike Bartholomew's Tokoloshe 2 will be absent, having dismasted during the feisty condition of Round 2 in Poole Bay. James Neville's Ino XXX will also be missed, as the team concentrate on their Rolex Fastnet Race campaign.

FAST40+ Race Director, Stuart Childerley, confirms the FAST40+ Class will be racing for the title of Overall RORC IRC National Champion, as well as valuable points for the 2019 FAST40+ Race Circuit.

“FAST40+ will have their own class at the RORC IRC Nationals with a mixture of windward leeward and round the cans courses.” confirmed Stuart Childerley. “Eight races are scheduled over three days, and exciting close racing is expected for the fleet. The FAST40+ fleet will be racing for the overall prize for the RORC IRC National Championship, and as Round 3 of the 2019 FAST40+ Race Circuit, all races may be counted towards the series.”
