Malcesine (Verona), 6 September 2019 - The month of September is without discussions as the most intense competitive period for the continental Melges 20 fleet that, in the span of two consecutive weekends, will race to win two titles and earn key points for the world ranking of the Melges World League.

The epilogue of the European Melges 20 season will begin on the weekend of September 8th and 9th, on the race course set up by Fraglia Vela Malcesine: regattas will begin with the Russian Open 2019, on whose starting line there will be all the Russian top teams that will compete with the "rest of the continent"; a challenge that has a particular value, especially considering it leads to the much awaited European Championship, which will be held a few days later (from 10 to 14) on the same race course.

In both events, all the aspirants to success have only one crew to look at and to beat: Russian Bogatyrs by Igor Rytov presents itself as the winner of the last edition of the Russian Open (Cagliari 2018) and reigning European Champion (title won in Šibenik in 2017). Rytov himself is also the recent winner of the European Melges World League circuit and number 1 in the world class ranking. These numbers alone give the dimension of strength and objectives of Rytov's crew.

Many teams have the potential to try to break the "magic" of the team by Rytov, whose strength is based on performance consistency and great experience to conquer other successes. The 2019 Russian Open will obviously offer several "derby" crosses between the teams belonging to the large and competitive Russian fleet.

This event will also be used as a warm up for the next European Championship where the names of those aspiring to win the European title are several and respond to the names of the veteran Vladimir Prosikhin with his Nika, to which are added, just to name a few, Brontolo Racing by Filippo Pacinotti (former vice world champion and winner of the European circuit in 2018) Mascalzone Latino Jr. of Achille Onorato (already runner-up in the Worlds in 2014), Boogie 2.0 of Argentinian Pierluigi Giannattassio (one of the more explosive surprises of the current season with the success in the stage of Puntaldia) as well as the amitious Corinthian team Siderval of Marco Giannini (that in Malcesine will have to defend the continental Corinthian title won in Sibenik in 2017, but above all the absolute success obtained in the last stage of Melges World League in Riva del Garda).

In the Melges 20 European Championship there will be 10 nations represented (Russia, Principality of Monaco, United States, Sweden, Czech Republic, Argentina, Great Britain, Italy, Poland, Japan).

All the Melges World League european events are supported by: Helly Hansen, North Sails, Tiirenia, Quantum Sails, Garmin Marine, La Thuile, Rocket Performance, Revi Trento Doc, Loison Pasticceri dal 1938, Rigoni di Asiago, Dai Dai, Norda, XPouf, Le Formiche di Fabio Vettori, boutique hotel Rifugio Azul (Minorca) e Rifugio hotel Lilla (La Thuile) and One Ocean; the events can also count on the support offered by Team Partners UYN (thanks to Brontolo and G3Bau Sailing Team), l'Enoteca e Camarca Caffè (thanks to Fra Martina Sailing Team).
