For The Hague, 2018 is all about sailing. The annual North Sea Regatta in May, the finish of the Volvo Ocean Race in June and the Offshore Sailing Worlds in July. All happening in the same harbor in a period of weeks. For sailors the perfect chance to combine those events!

Sailors participating in the Offshore Sailing World Championship 2018 in July, will have an offshore and days of inshore racing out on the North Sea. During the North Sea Regatta, both offshore and inshore racing is scheduled during the 9 to 20 May period. Both events happen on the same water, out of the same harbor, and mostly with the same Race Committees. Ideal to prepare for the Worlds, to get to know the venue and its surroundings.

Finish Volvo Ocean Race The Hague

Between the North Sea Regatta and the Worlds, the Volvo Ocean Race finishes in The Hague. In the same harbor, on the same challenging North Sea. This Ocean Race is a legendary race around the world. After sailing for nine months and 45.000 nautical miles, the city of The Hague will be its ultimate finish destination. The arrival promises to be an unforgettable moment for these professional sailors and their spectators. From 24 to 30 June shore events for spectators are beyond the imaginable.

Among these spectators, we will see some of the world class sailors of both North Sea Regatta as Offshore Sailing Worlds. Yachtclub Scheveningen and the organizing committee of both the North Sea Regatta and Offshore Sailing Worlds, cleared and reserved 10 spots from May 21st to July 12th for the teams participate in both North Sea Regatta and the Offshore Sailing Worlds.

During the Volvo Ocean Race finish, the organization has been granted the right to rent out berths to visitors in general. Existing Yachtclub members with berths are allowed to stay in the harbor. Unfortunately, most visitors have to clear the marina on June 15th and are allowed back in as of July 2nd. The nearest marina is Marina Seaport IJmuiden. It might be possible to arrange a shuttle service from IJmuiden to Scheveningen.
