Hankø, Norway – Organizers with Hankø Yacht Club, the Royal Norwegian Yacht Club (KNS) and the Offshore Racing Congress (ORC) are pleased to announce that the Notice of Race for the 2022 ORC European Championship is now available on the event’s website at www.orcieuro2022.no.

Early interest of this event has been outstanding: already 33 entries from 6 countries have pre-registered their intent to attend, with many more expected in the coming weeks. The reason is the event is allowing a maximum number of 100 entries: 20 in Class A and 40 each in Classes B and C.

Discount entry fees increase after 31 May, and increase again after the closing date for pre-registration on 5 July 2022.

“As a member of both KNS and Hankø Yacht Club, I’m very excited about Norway hoisting the ORC Europeans next year in my home waters,” said Thomas Nilsson, prominent international racer and long time member of the ORC Congress representing Norway.

“Hankø is where I started sailing many years ago, and Hankø Yacht Club was founded and initiated by passionate sailors for the purpose of supporting not only local sailing but promoting Hankø as a center for international yachting.

"Both of my clubs are looking forward to working closely with ORC to host a great event, and with already over 30 entries from 6 nations I believe this is going to be the highlight event of the season for big boat sailing in Norway. We look forward to seeing even more sailors from among all our neighbors in Northern Europe, and beyond as well. This is for sure an event you don’t want to miss next season if you’re into good racing.”

As with other ORC championship events, the format for the regatta is 3 days of registration, inspection and measurements held over 5-7 August. Racing starts with a long Offshore race held over 8-9 August, followed by Inshore racing held over 10-11 August, a short Offshore race on 12 August, and on the final day of the event more Inshore racing and the Closing Ceremony held on 13 August.

“We are very pleased to see the strong interest in the 2022 ORC Europeans in Hankø,” said Bruno Finzi, Chairman of ORC. “This is a demonstration of the strength and popularity of the use of our system to service all the sailors in the Baltic region. We look forward to more entries from throughout northern Europe to come to Hankø and participate in what promises to be an outstanding regatta.”
