In preparation for the ORC European Championship Malta 2023, ORC and the Royal Malta Yacht Club are offering a two-day comprehensive Measurement Seminar to be held at the Royal Malta Yacht Club between Saturday and Sunday, February 4-5, 2023, with an introductory presentation on the ORC rating systems taking place on Friday, February 3. Both events are being held at the Royal Malta Yacht Club and will be led by ORC Chief Measurer Zoran Grubiša and ORC Technical Staff member Alberto Pindozzi.

All interested measurers, race committee members and sailors are invited to attend to learn more about the ORC rating system’s topics on measurement procedures, data analysis, certificate processing, and race management, both in theory and in practice.

Participation in the ORC general presentation for sailors, boat owners, race managers is free of charge, whilst a nominal fee of €15 per person, per day, to cover lunch and coffee breaks will be charged for the two-day seminar. All those interested in taking part are to send an email to [email protected] by not later than Monday 30th, January.

Friday, 3rd February
1900 ORC general presentation for sailors, boat owners, race managers
This presentation is strongly recommended for all, particularly those crews who are intending on competing in the ORC Championships.

Saturday, 4th February
0930 Measurement – Part 1 – Hull, appendages, propeller, rig, sails – Theory
1300 Lunch break
1400 Measurement – Part 1 – Hull, appendages, propeller, rig, sails – Practice
1800 Expected end

Sunday, 5th February
0930 Measurement – Part 2 – Inclining and stability - Short theoretical part followed by practical in water measurements
1300 Lunch break
1400 Analysis of results and processing certificates
1500 Scoring options and Race management
1800 Expected end
