After becoming the first Made-in-Italy motor yacht to obtain the “Hybrid Power” certification from the Lloyd’s Register of Shipping and winning the World Yachts Trophies 2019 in the
“Green Yachts” category, 31 m Motor Yacht Vanadis confirms her green soul by winning the “Eco Award” at the International Design and Innovation Awards, which were handed out
yesterday in Cortina d’Ampezzo.

CCN’s fully-custom 31 m vessel was chosen among award winners for her cutting-edge technological solutions and her strong focus on environmental sustainability and energy
efficiency. In the Jury’s words: “Motoryacht Vanadis has the most comprehensive diesel-electric power system yet on a yacht of modest (31m) length and has the first Hybrid Power certification by Lloyd’s Register for an Italian-built yacht. Key to the success of the project was analysis of efficient power sources and distribution for all navigation and hotel loads based on the owner’s request for both fin and gyro stabilisation and great manoeuvring, including Dynamic Positioning.” Pencilled by design firm Studio Guido De Groot, MY Vanadis offers the opportunity to cruise in diesel, diesel electric or full electric mode, ensuring maximum comfort and zero emissions.

The yacht is equipped with 2 Schottel STP 150 FP twin-propeller azimuth thrusters driven by a Siemens hybrid system which includes both traditional diesel engines and electric engines supplied by generators or batteries. This configuration allows for low-consumption cruising and guarantees a limited environmental impact, as well as increased onboard comfort thanks to reduced noise and vibrations, both at anchor and when cruising.

The craft is also fitted with a set of high-energy lithium-ion batteries that supply most onboard utilities, allowing to remain at anchor at zero emissions for up to 17 consecutive hours and to cruise at limited speed for 180 minutes with the power load needed to ensure high onboard comfort. “This award makes us doubly proud – says CCN’s CEO Diego Michele Deprati - winning is always an honour, because it is an acknowledgement of the good work accomplished by the Company and by all the people who devote their passion and commitment to it on a daily basis; but the motivation for this specific award is even more significant and rewards our Shipyard’s great efforts in research and development, aimed at creating technologically advanced products that are also environmentally-friendly – an aspect that means a lot to us. This, however, would never have been possible without the support of a brave Owner, who offered us the opportunity to work along these lines, giving us his unconditioned trust and the right stimuli, without which we would never have been able to achieve such outstanding results”.
