Today, FJORD officially launched its latest model, the FJORD 490: as FJORD 490 Open with two powerful inboard engines and as FJORD 490 SPORT with three powerful V12 outboard engines.

With her unique combination of performance, seaworthiness, comfort and iconic design typical of FJORD, in their first collaboration with the renowned Italian yacht designer Marco Casali, the developers at HanseYachts have once again turned the new FJORD 490 into a real highlight on the water. To meet every need, the customer has the choice between two fundamentally different propulsion concepts: either two Volvo Penta inboards with up to 800 hp each for a top speed of up to 34 knots - or three 600 hp V12 Mercury Verado outboard engines for up to 45 knots. Both drive variants offer more than sufficient thrust, agility and impressive performance in all conditions at all times.

As is typical for FJORD, every aspect of the design is centred on power, stability, safety and durability. From the hydrodynamic hull design to the reinforced construction and the robust materials used throughout: like all models of FJORD's iconic walkaround yachts, the new 490 is built to withstand a wide range of conditions. This is just as much a matter of course at FJORD as the range of top-quality navigation instruments. In addition, many innovative detail solutions make mooring much easier and more comfortable.

A novelty on the FJORD 490 are her generous folding side balconies. The typical large T-top provides shade, and the impressively generous dimensions on deck make particularly good use of every available centimetre while ensuring maximum freedom of movement. Large sun loungers aft and on the foredeck and the large galley in the cockpit with a wide range of equipment options ensure perfect hospitality on board. The FJORD 490 Sport also offers a particularly large storage space under its sunbed with plenty of room for water sports equipment such as SUPs or diving gear.

Below deck, various layout variants with numerous customisation options fulfil practically every wish. You can choose between a saloon with a cosy seating area in the foredeck and a double cabin or two double cabins and up to two bathrooms instead. Additional bulkheads and doors ensure maximum privacy on board if desired.

Andrea Zambonini, FJORD product manager: “We worked with passion alongside Marco Casali and our internal design and engineering team to create the FJORD 490, blending uniqueness with innovation. Our goal was to meet the expectations of loyal customers looking for a larger yacht while also attracting new clients who appreciate the iconic FJORD design. Every detail, from the folding side balconies to the optimised interior layouts, was crafted to deliver the perfect balance of comfort, performance, and style.”

Highlights: Design and comfort of the new FJORD 490

Hull: The elaborately newly developed and hydrodynamically optimised high-performance sandwich hull with its robust inner frame ensures great stability for this fast power yacht. The typical FJORD hull lines make the appearance of the FJORD 490 unmistakable on the water.

Deck: The helm station with up to four pilot seats is equipped with state-of-the-art navigation electronics, control systems and displays. The galley block behind it, with a width of 2.4 metres, not only offers a sink, large work surface and a choice of electric grill or cooker. An additional fridge, freezer, ice machine, electric hob, or coffee machine are available on request. The seating area with two folding and electrically lowerable tables can accommodate up to ten people. The large, electrically opening sun lounge on the aft deck offers plenty of space to relax. In the FJORD 490 Sport, the large storage space below even extends deep into the hull, where the engines are located in the Open model due to its design.

Electric winches can be added to the perfectly positioned aft cleats for easy mooring. Rectangular fenders resting in recesses next to the running deck are always at hand and only need to be folded out if required. And with the optional mooring assistant from Volvo Penta, mooring manoeuvres are child's play, even in narrow harbours or in challenging weather conditions.

The entire cockpit is shaded by the largest T-top in this class, which can be extended with an optional electric bimini for even greater sun protection. The robust roof pillars of the T-top are integrated into the bulwarks for maximum stability and freedom of movement. On the typical FJORD walkaround deck, as usual, the second large sun lounge on the foredeck, for which a sun awning is also available, can be reached without steps. The large bathing platform at the stern of the FJORD 490 Open can be lowered hydraulically as an option for maximum comfort, while the FJORD 490 Sport's design concentrates it on the areas to the side of the outboard engines. In the outboard version, an electric gangway can be fitted on request to provide both convenient access to the yacht and a perfect bathing ladder.

Interior: The exclusive interior concept of the FJORD 490 not only makes optimum use of every centimetre of space below deck. Particularly well thought-out layout variants give the owner great freedom of choice: in addition to the spacious guest cabin with double berth and plenty of storage space, a spacious owner's cabin with or without separating bulkhead, or instead a saloon in the foreship with U-shaped sofa and lowerable saloon table are possible. While one bathroom is standard on board the FJORD 490, comfort for owners and guests can be further increased by adding a second bathroom.

Four different interior design styles, each with a harmoniously coordinated mix of colours and materials, make the choice easy.
