Maserati and Soldini ready for a new challenge starting from Antigua

Just a few days after winning and setting the new speed record at the RORC Transatlantic Race, Giovanni Soldini and the crew of Maserati Multi70 will be back on the water for the 14th edition of the RORC Caribbean 600, the great Caribbean sporting event promoted by the Royal Ocean Racing Club that attracts an international fleet of over 70 boats for one of the most spectacular offshore races in the world.

It will start from Fort Charlotte, Antigua, on Monday 20 February at 11:30 am local time (3:30 pm UTC, 4:30 pm in Italy), following a 600-mile route around 11 islands in the eastern Caribbean, in a succession of wind shifts and tactical decisions. Among the multihulls competing in the MOCRA class, there are two MOD 70s that will be directly competing in this edition: Zoulou (FRA) with Loick Peyron and Erik Maris at the helm, and Giovanni Soldini's Maserati Multi70 (ITA) that last year, in Antigua, was the protagonist of a fierce final duel with Jason Carroll's Argo (USA) with Brian Thompson at the helm that won at the finish line with a lead of less than two minutes. On that occasion Argo also set a new regatta speed record with a time of 29 hours, 38 minutes, 44 seconds.

Maserati Multi70, which is taking part in the RORC Caribbean 600 for the fifth time after having raced the 2017, 2019, 2020 and 2022 editions, has spent the last few weeks in the dockyard repairing the damage to the keel hull that had caused the watertight compartments to flood in the transatlantic race. Having also carried out thorough checks on the structure with ultrasound, maintenance of all components and repainting of the appendages, the trimaran is now ready for a new race.

The crew that will accompany Giovanni Soldini is made up of 7 experienced sailors: Guido Broggi (ITA), Oliver Herrera Perez (ESP), Thomas Joffrin (FRA), Francesco Pedol (ITA), Alberto Riva (ITA), Matteo Soldini (ITA), Lucas Valenza-Troubat (FRA).
