The fleet of Perini Navi yachts once again took to the waters off the Costa Smeralda today for the second day of racing in the seventh edition of the Perini Navi Cup. The event, which gathers the pearls of the Italian shipyard together, is organised by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda and will conclude tomorrow, Saturday 22nd September.

On schedule at 11.30 a.m. the starting procedures got underway and saw the two divisions set off using a staggered start formula with one yacht departing every three minutes. Both the Cruiser Racers and the Corinthians Spirit sailed the same coastal course of 10 miles. After the start the 12 sailing yachts headed north to round the island of Monaci before sailing to the Secca Tre Monti rock and crossing the finish line near the Passo delle Bisce strait. The course was shortened due to the easterly breeze, which had been 7 knots at the start, falling off.

The classification remains unchanged in the Cruiser Racer division with Silencio taking the win of the day once again. Despite the light breeze the imposing Seahawk and Victoria A engaged in a hard-fought battle on the approach to the finish line. It was Seahawk that finally got the upper hand and claimed second place ahead of Victoria A in third. The provisional overall classification sees the same three superyachts sitting in the same order.

In the Corinthians Spirit division Maltese Falcon continues to lead the provisional standings as she scored her second victory today, she is followed three points behind by Tamsen, third today in corrected time. Second place in today's race went to Caoz 14, with Tommaso Chieffi on tactics, now sitting in fourth place overall, just one point behind Spirit of C's, who remains in a podium spot despite today's fifth place finish.

During the evening the quays of Porto Cervo Marina will be buzzing thanks to the Yacht Hop, where guests have the opportunity to board the Perini yachts on the docks, and the Cocktail Contest which allows crews to engage in another entertaining competition off the water. More than 700 guests are expected to attend this wonderful celebration of boats, music and street food.

The final day of racing gets underway tomorrow, Saturday 22 September, with the fleet scheduled to meet on the starting line at 11.30 a.m. and westerly winds of 15-18 knots predicted.

At the conclusion of the regatta, the Piazza Azzurra will play host to the prize giving ceremony, followed by a final gala dinner at the YCCS Clubhouse.
