ASW 2025: Queens of the Sea raring to race at Porto Santo Stefano
With just one week to go, the 24th edition of the Argentario Sailing Week, organised by the Yacht Club Santo Stefano, is entering its final phase of preparation, scheduled to kick off on Wednesday 18th June and come to an exciting close on Sunday 22nd. The event’s organisers are working tirelessly to ensure the over 40 classic and vintage Grandes Dames sailing in from 9 countries receive a warm welcome as they prepare to battle it out in a regatta that every year brings the heart of Tuscany’s idyllic Argentario to life with spectacular competition.
Piero Chiozzi, President of the Yacht Club Santo Stefano, emphasised just how many parties are involved in making such a riveting spectacle a reality: "The Argentario Sailing Week’s success stems from teamwork in its most genuine form, it stems from the close collaboration between institutions, our Club’s unwavering commitment, the support of high-profile partners, and the constant return of owners and crews who, year after year, renew their trust in this event. I would like to thank Mayor Arturo Cerulli and the Monte Argentario Municipal Administration for their patronage and tangible support, all the owners and their registered crews, the sponsors at our side, and of course the Club's own Board and staff, who share the common goal of contributing to the success that is the Argentario Sailing Week."
The regattas will be contested in compliance with CIM and AIVE rules within the framework of the Mediterranean Circuit. Registered boats will be divided into classes on the basis of their technical specs, in order to ensure a regatta as closely fought as it will be spectacular. This year will also see the "Trofeo Voscià - Giancarlo Lodigiani" challenge trophy, inspired by the memory of the late AIVE president, who passed away prematurely in 2024. The trophy will be awarded to the Yawl-rigged yacht with the best score at the Argentario Saling Week.

The Argentario Sailing Week: a story of passion, tradition and success
The event is a key strategic event for the local territory, one capable of generating an important a quantitative and qualitative economic impact on all tourism-dependent activities, guaranteed by a direct influx of over 1,500 attendees, including owners, crews, guests, media and sailing enthusiasts, many of whom travel from abroad specifically, during a time of year considered less attractive compared to the high tourist season.
The history of Argentario Sailing Week begins in 1992, when a group of members of the Yacht Club Santo Stefano organised a regatta for classic yachts called Le Vele d'Argento (The Silver Sails). Over the years, the constant increase in registered boats, the area’s hospitality and consistently favourable weather conditions eventually contributed to the event becoming a central date on the international calendar of classic and vintage yacht regattas. In 1999 the event took on the name we know today: Argentario Sailing Week, confirming its role as a high-profile regatta and, at the same time, as a moment of refined culture and hospitality, where passion, history and craftsmanship come together on the Mediterranean, in the sublime setting of Monte Argentario.
