The first hull built at Tankoa Yachts’ new Civitavecchia production site has just arrived in Genoa, reaching the shipyard’s headquarters. It is a 45-metre vessel from the T450 series, another unit of which was recently launched. This transfer marks a significant step in Tankoa Yachts’ broader strategy for growth and development.

The yacht was constructed at Tankoa Yachts’ new facility within the port of Civitavecchia, where the shipyard has held a concession since December 2023. Key production activities – including hull and superstructure construction, machinery installation, and initial outfitting – were all completed on site.

The transfer by sea involved a multi-phase logistics operation: the hull was first transported on trailers from the facility to the quay, then loaded onto a barge and towed to Genoa, where it was offloaded at Tankoa Yachts’ private docking area. The voyage took approximately two days, and the yacht has now been moved into one of the yard’s sheds for final outfitting ahead of its launch.

Tankoa Yachts has strategically prioritized developing its new Civitavecchia shipyard in close collaboration with local authorities. Around €5 million has been invested in kick-start operations, helping to revitalise the area and integrate local expertise into the supply chain. The site currently employs around 120 people, where five yachts are under construction – including the one that has just arrived in Genoa.

“This first transfer is a tangible step in our long-term commitment to Civitavecchia,” says Vincenzo Poerio, CEO of Tankoa Yachts. “We immediately recognised the potential of this area. The next step is to develop the supply chain, so we can create an efficient production hub that brings value to the region and to Italy’s entire yacht-building industry.”

The Civitavecchia project is a key part of Tankoa Yachts’ strategic expansion plan, which has made it necessary to enlarge production capacity. At the same time, it strengthens Civitavecchia’s role as a new hub for high-end yacht construction, within a port that combines strong potential with a long-standing maritime heritage.

Tankoa Yachts continues to affirm its position as a solid, reliable, and steadily expanding player on the global yachting scene.
