Zuccon International Project presented with ADI Award

Bernardo and Martina Zuccon are the winners again this year of the Design Excellence Award Lazio, promoted by ADI - Association for Industrial Design, for Sanlorenzo SD118 and Bluegame BG72. The award ceremony took place yesterday in the prestigious library of the Italian Encyclopaedia Institute in Rome.

Yachting confirms its place in the realm of design excellence thanks to Bernardo and Martina Zuccon, who co-designed the concept and exterior styling of Sanlorenzo SD118 and of Bluegame BG72, for which they penned the exterior and interior design in partnership with Luca Santella.

The Design Excellence Award Lazio is conferred on designers who live and work in Italy’s Lazio region and are published in the ADI Design Index. The two yachts selected for the ADI Index 2022 will compete for the Compasso d’Oro 2023, the world’s longest-standing and most authoritative design award established in 1954 and based on an idea by architect Giò Ponti.

Sanlorenzo SD118, with French firm Daniel & Michel Bismut partnering on the interiors, is a model embodying Zuccon’s contemporary take on the classic lines of the navetta, a term that brings to mind some of the most romantic aspects of navigation, associated with the desire to go to sea without haste and savour the life on board for extended periods. The concept of asymmetry applied to the yacht is a key feature developed by the Rome-based design studio and forms part of a process of ongoing research into new concepts of living at sea.

Bluegame, on the other hand, is a 72-foot yacht that evolves the historic BG range, representing a happy combination of a flybridge and an open yacht, with a completely open upper deck. Here, Zuccon’s work imprints a distinctive personality on both the silhouette and the interior and exterior spaces.

“Once again this year, two prestigious awards confirm and consolidate our collaboration with two leading brands in the yacht industry, Sanlorenzo and Bluegame,” said Bernardo Zuccon, accepting the award. “We hope that our design studio, which has been working in this field for 40 years, as well as representing the Region in the industry, can act as an ambassador of yacht design, playing an increasingly strategic role in the multifaceted world of design.”
