The 2019 UIM competition saw entries from 25 photographers in 14 countries submitting a total of 288 images across the seven categories covering UIM competitions around the world.

We know first-hand, the effort it takes to prepare a submission for this prestigious International competition and would like to offer my most sincere congratulations and thanks to every single participant – especially those who are learning or improving their skills at the more accessible, less publicised events.

This is where skills of both drivers, and photographers are crafted and the importance of these events should not be underestimated.

Let's discover the names of this 2019 UIM Photographic Competition winners !

First of all I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who submitted entries in the 2019 UIM Photographic competition and also to encourage those who considered submitting but for some reason or other decided against it, to make that effort, submit your very best images, be brave and who knows, it could be your chance to win one or more category in this prestigious International competition?

The 2019 UIM competition saw entries from 25 photographers in 14 countries submitting a total of 288 images across the seven categories covering UIM competitions around the world. I know first-hand, the effort it takes to prepare a submission for this prestigious International competition and would like to offer my most sincere congratulations and thanks to every single participant – especially those who are learning or improving their skills at the more accessible, less publicised events. This is where skills of both drivers, and photographers are crafted and the importance of these events should not be underestimated. I suspect that the virus that is sweeping the World as I write this will affect all forms of UIM racing activity to some degree, but I call on everyone involved in this competition to pull together and show the World what a united family we are. If we are fortunate enough to be able to race this year, please, take lots of shots, select your best and submit them into the 2020 competition.

For those photographers who have entered and not received awards I suggest that the biggest single thing you can do to improve your photography is to enjoy it – be your own harshest critic and if you are a beginner, let the technology do the work for you. Only as your technique improves should you begin to take control of your settings. Initially you should think more about your composure, your viewpoint and your lens choice – the best camera in the world is the one you have to take the shot. Your best accessories are not shiny lenses or cameras with fast drives but your legs and eyes – so please use them, look for interesting angles and try to foresee interesting action both on the water and in the pits. Practice, learn, practice and repeat!
Congratulations to the winners and I sincerely hope that the pandemic of COVID-19 passes quickly. Some things really put life’s priorities into perspective and I would like to wish everyone who is part of the UIM family a safe 2020.
